This is my first time that am posting here and asking for help in order to improve my game. The following hand took place at the 300 deep stack DTD yesterday and I believe that I missed my chance for early double up at second level.           Table not very active only 2-3 players seem to be willing to play post flop poker unless they have the goods. I raised utg      And big blind defend. Flop  three diamonds       He check I cb 475 into 1000 he check raise 2100 now what you do? I believe he flopped a set as well or have some combo draw with straight and flushing. You flat or reraise? Tnx

If you think he has a strong hand like a set raise again. No need to slow play a cold deck. Villain is never folding and a diamond turn can kill ur action.

Its a 4x check raise vs UTG, so i think hes alot more likely to be strong and stack off here. People don't tend to bluff in this spot a great deal, especially on a passive table. Also when people are "seeing where they are at" they tend to go a little smaller.

This, flatting here and seeing a diamond turn would make me want to spew, a flat if it's a less coordinated board would be right imho.

get it in on the flop now. So many turn cards either kill your action or complete his combo draws etc

Might as well just jam now. He's never folding a set after you've opened utg. You could easily have an over pair and people tend to take off with those in this comp so he's always calling.

need an idea of how much you both have behind you didnt give starting stacks in the OP.

I would assume your'e roughly 40% versus his range (since he can have lower sets), though it depends if you think 64s/96s/54s are the type of hands in his defend range if they are its worse

I would call mainly and hope river pairs (depends on how much you both have back), if you dont have much back I would think about folding. But, you prob have the right price to see the river.

Fwiw it's fine to continue asking questions about the hand, but this exactly why not raising the flop is a pretty large mistake

cbet bigger otf, people peel 99/ TT and all the sooted cards... it makes his CR bigger, and then its a pretty simple shove....

like they said above, people don't tend to bluff vs UTG opens, mainly because:

"people think you think the way they think"

Which sounds crazy... but basically it means if he would be tight UTG he will assume you will be too, until you prove him otherwise, so in this spot unless he knows you can bluff here, he will always have some form of 'it'.

hope this makes sense, im a little tired.

The problem for me here is that I believed from the start that he have a set here and we are going to get it in regardless on the turn! How mistaken I was as the turn is such a let down and after he fire again 3k I thought that maybe it was the combo draw and not a set. To make thinks worst River is  . But guess what he check to me!

I checked back and he said we could have put it all in on the flop and tabled Huh? for a flopped 2 pair having him drawing dead from the flop I lost my chance to KO him. Am very upset with my play as opportunities like that don't come twice in a tourney so early. The guy put me on    or and that why he checked river thinking I outdraw him not knowing he was dead on flop lucky ****** Smiley
