http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/21374699So we know Citeh will just rely on the far east to buy up seats even though it's blatently obvious that's what they're doing with all the empty blue seats at a lot of the home games, not sure how chelsea turned a progit last year, but the teams gone to shite so unconcerned, but what about Liverpool, maybe even QPR, or others that hoped for a sugar daddy to take them over to play real life football manager. Bit late so not really worked out how this will effect the league, thoughts?

I just do not know where I am with this whole financial fair play stuff throughout the football league.
All it means is that it limits a small club ever challenging up top, because they are not capable of making a significant loss over a period to compete. If clubs like Everton/West Ham/Leeds ever got a decent investor and with a half decent fan base it would be questionable to what they can actually achieve.
But how far does it actually go? Can a club spend X amount of money & then have to worry if they want to make developments to stadium/training base?
The football League have some sort of FFP...
... Clubs can only spend so much of what comes in, so how on earth does a club like Barnet create the ability to climb the leagues?

Can't really see how it's a bad thing, especially given how out of control things seem to have gotten over the last few years. I'm not a massive football fan and nowadays don't go to games at all, but can't really see what's bad about this being implemented* *It is early and I've not eaten yet, so my brain may not be working and I could be missing something @ Aaron - The article says that stadium and academy developments are exempt m8.

I'm not sure why anyone think that it is a bad thing if a rich guy spends all his money on a football club to mix things up a bit. Man City winning the league would be unthinkable when I was a kid. Changing of the order is a good thing. Can't think of anything duller than Aguero only being able to sign for 2 clubs because they have the biggest fan bases.
If you want fair play, then have a squad salary cap like the NFL. Don't just load the bases in favour of Man Utd and Arsenal.

Man City won the league when I was a kid. Salary cap is being introduced, but it looks like favouring the clubs who have invested in their grounds.

That isn't a salary cap.

meant middle east, well Saudi, damn it ws late when I posted it. Basically City's owners have been cooking the books as to their income for a few years now, blatently obvious if the fair play people watched their games.

because that's what leads to Portsmouth being on the verge of being chucked out of the football league (for example) I think people haven't really considered the level these caps are set at. The amount of loss clubs are allowed is so high that I think they said only about 3 or 4 teams have ever gone over it in the past 20 odd years. Things might get a bit tighter than that over time, but suggesting that clubs should be able to lose infinite millions can never be a sensible idea.

"because that's what leads to Portsmouth being on the verge of being chucked out of the football league"
You are confusing someone running up a massive debt, with a rich guy ploughing money in because he loves the sport. Very different.
