On the new one:
20 Psychopath, 14 narcissist, 6 deviant
You scored between six (6) and twenty-one (21). This indicates that you probably have a criminal background, but one that does not include felonies.
That's more like it.

I want to start by saying I see myself as being of sound mind and due to work I have done in the past I have officially been certified as being sane.. However.. I was speaking to the missus last night and I admitted to occasionally having rather strange thoughts/urges like driving into oncoming traffic or thoughts of being able to commit murder and get away with it. She suggested I seek professional help. So it got me wondering does anyone else have thoughts that are a little out there or am I just a nutter?
Been having lots of these thoughts again. The main one is when I am alone in the car I think about swerving into oncoming traffic. Another is when someone is talking to me I sometimes get the thought of just punching the person straight in the face or sometimes I think what would happen if I just kissed this person.. I know, i know. #Disturbing. I have always had these types of urges but I have never acted upon them but recently they have been happening more often so I did a bit of research.
"l'appel du vide "
translated to mean "The call of the void" it is often said in relation to people getting the urge to jump from high places which would almost certainly lead to their death but it also encompasses my random urges amongst some others I have read about like touching strangers when in a queue, putting your hand in machinery etc. The kissing and traffic ones seem quite common though.
there is also something called
The Imp of the Perverse
which is a metaphor for the tendency to do exactly the wrong thing in a given situation for the sole reason that it is possible for wrong to be done.
My first thought when giving a champagne glass is to just crush it with my hand. I did actually do this once but it hurt and I got blood on my shirt so haven't acted on that urge since.
There seem to be a lot of explanations to these urges ranging from the ridiculous to the sublime but they seem to be just loose theories.
Thoughts or tendencies of your own anyone? I will try my hardest not to punch or kiss you when we are next at the table together. #AddedSweatsFTW

How different are these urges to this sort of thing:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-22766580
?
Isn't it a similar thing, but he was unable to control the urges?

I dunno, possibly I guess. It's scary he didn't have any drink or drugs in his system so theoretically he is of "sound mind" (excluding any pre-existing mental conditions). After having spent a good few hours researching online I can see there are A LOT of people who admit to having such urges that he carried out and the ones I mentioned but I would imagine the fact they are receptive to them and openly discuss them makes them less likely to act upon them as opposed to the many out there who will have the same urges but either try to deny them or bottle them up until they just explode?? or the fact they discuss them could mean they are much stronger?? I imagine there are tens of thousands out there who are capable of it but just never act upon it. tbh I have no idea, i'm no therapist.
I remember reading something along the lines of "If you ever knew how close you had been to sex or death you would go insane".
What he did was obv disgusting and he can't be right in the head but by his own words what he did was "horrendous" so fuck knows what was going on or what clicked inside him.

That is possibly the worst sentence/paragraph I have ever constructed. I can't be bothered to tidy it up though. them, them, them.

Out of interest milli, do you find any pattern in your bouts of 'quirky' thoughts?
I wondered if there was any link to stressfull or worrisome periods in your life.
Also, do you think you have any O.C.D. tendencies?
I'm no expert in any of these things, I just have a theory that when you have a lot going on in life and your busy keeping everthing on an even keel (even if you don't actually realise your under pressure) sometimes you find your mind throwing out random stuff, as a kind of outlet.
I think this is particularly true with people who have an active imagination!
For me, I compare it to when you wake up in the small hours and torment yourself with all kinds of crap, only to remember it in the daylight and smile and think what was that about??
I've got to say I think your honesty with yourself and others means you have little to worry about.
Now I'll have to add 'Admitting to psychopathic tendencies' to the things Blondes don't bat an eyelid at I was teasing Tal about on the I've never thread.

Not really patterns like stress or periods of high pressure. Only things I have ever noticed really are that I never have the driving into traffic thoughts when my wife or daughter are in the car with me. Is that because they keep me entertained so my mind doesn't wander or something deeper within? I don't know. I also don't have the punching or kissing thoughts with family members or really close friends, seems to be more with strangers or loose acquaintances.
I have always thought myself someone who doesn't really get affected by stress, but in reality It is both a mix of not letting things get to me too much and probably bottling up a lot of that which does. The day I was finally kicked out by my mum at 16 I went on a massive rampage just smashing windows and anything else I could get my hands on in the house, that kind of came from nowhere although from the ages of like 13-22 I always did enjoy a good scrap. So I guess I did already have anger issues. Apart from one freak incident in Riga with some Belgian hooligans, I haven't really had a fight in the last 7 years. So i'm not sure if I have less anger issues now or have I just not been in situations that lead to violence? I dunno.
I certainly do have an active imagination and am always thinking of the most random thoughts. Not even dangerous just completely utterly random and beyond the realms of comprehension for most.
I don't think I am too worried about it at the minute, but it would be nice to hear from someone else who thinks this kind of stuff. I know it can't just be me on blonde..surely..

Just for balance, for anyone who hasn't met Dave, he is quite literally the nicest guy you could meet. Friendly, affable, kind and funny. And Im pretty sure he lies about these fights and things just so people don't mess with him (not that many would mess with a 6ft 4 bloke anyway)
AS for random thoughts, that's what keeps you sane! I love day dreaming about bollocks. Pretty sure Lil D even did a blog about it! Its much better than real life!

I don't think it is unusual to have those kind of thoughts. I think about stuff like that all the time. It would be weird if you carried it out but actually thinking it is fine.

I've occasionally just randomly had the driving into oncoming traffic thought, generally it is followed by 'Why on earth am I thinking about something like that'.
Came about mostly when I would be driving home from Chicksands, and stuck on the M25 etc. I honestly wouldn't have even remembered it if you hadn't posted about it though.
I was similar to yourself as a teenager, but I was a bit late on the growing up part and didn't stop being a mug until I was in my late 20s.
In before 'you stopped?'
Wonder if it was the forces that triggered the driving into oncoming traffic bit, because I swear I never had it until long after joining up...
Now all I generally think about is Johnny Chan and the fking Mirage!!
