I think manchester is by far the most scummiest place I have ever lived in.

some of the ppl are just pure scum

Surely see Acidmouses'  earlier post then!

I happen to disagree! There are some very nice parts of manchester and surrounding areas

Mostly the surrounding areas though, yeah?

Manchester is a decent place to live if you don't venture out of the city centre.

Most provincial cities are OK if you don't venture out from the centre.

+1 to Ho.

Mosside, longsight, whalley range, chorlton, the amount of shit holes is just outstanding. I know everywhere has it's bad places, but Manchester takes the biscuit.

Yeah, but Manchester has a really nice centre for a city with such a dodgy rep.

Sorry to hear about the burglary..

Motion sensors and an alarm system won't do much in terms of prevention, the thieves will still have more then enough time to take your stuff before the law get there. You're probably better off getting a guard dog if you can, or just move to a safer less vulnerable area.

Now to Red-dogs comment about Muggings, I lived in New york for most of my life growing up (Long Island - which is pretty nice) first time someone tried to mug me was when I went to get KFC from union turnpike which was about a 20 minute walk from where I lived, 2 guys asked me to give them the bag, which I was not giving up being 13 and only being allowed fast food once every two months, so I took a beating but held onto the bag.  Went home told my uncle whom I lived with; he immediately took me out in his car, we found the guys who must have been no 16ish he made the kids tell them where they lived (it was this or he would call the law plus my uncle was 6'4 and built like a brick shit house) he told their parents and made me fight one of kids one on one.. I think this was probably a good way of dealing with the situation at the time because it taught the kids a lesson about consequences. Pretty sure they didn't try to Mug anyone after that

Second time I was finishing training in Sunnyside was catching the subway home when three guys demanded I give them my Jordans I refused and started fighting got stabbed twice and got a razor blade across my face (Scars still slightly visible) I probably should have handed over my bag which was just full of gym gear and my Jordans would have saved a lot of worrying and heartache for my family.

Third time I was coming back from a house party in West Ham and two black youths both on mountain bikes asked me for the time, then pulled out a gun and demanded my wallet, which without hesitation I quickly handed over as there was no way I was gonna be a hero.

So I think it's situational, sometimes you stand and fight other times you give them what they want.

But saying that if I was with any of my kids or my partner I would immediately hand over my wallet/cash.

That's an excellent insight Mr Bang, and I'm sure you're right about it all being situational.

I agree on the situational thing I ha a friend who was involved in an armed robbery the house had 4 girls in it and they came in with machetes one of the girls ha competed at national level karate and is pretty fucking tough she said to me he considered it maybe I tere was 2 or 3 guys she may have taken it on basically she got tied up to her friend and could have escaped the lad were like 16-18 and they left one of the younger ones with her while they raided the house but she stayed quite which I believe was the right call as later on they found out they had guns
