Hi AJ,

Meant to ask you earlier on Skype... have you ever been to an SPT/do you play much live?

Just wondering if you were gonna give it a go to satellite into SPT Birmingham.

Wow how bizarre. Ive spent years trying to find out what the White Town song Your Woman was called. About 10 minutes after writing my earlier post i discovered it on Spotify and then you post it here. I suppose it's hard to portray how bizarre it is in writing lol.

Spotify is great. i only just recently signed upto it. Before that i actually had a list of songs that i would add to when hearing new stuff so i could get them later on. Hate the adverts though.

I've heard the land of 1000 dances a lot on films but again never knew the name, love that old style. Been spotified!! The missus seems to enjoy it aswell judging by here weird movements lol

How do Lamberto!!

I used to play in pubs a lot but actually never been to a casino. One of my goals for the year was to play a SPT event but none are close enough to Leeds for me to try. I will def be trying to play one soon. Just as a side note, and dont want to sound thick but is it 'a SPT' or 'an SPT'? i know the general if its a vowel starting the next word rule but when i said the above line in my head lol i say 'an SPT' and 'a SPT' sounds wrongs? lolol

Do you play a lot live? i know you have played an SPT before.

Im going to be looking for some good live cash games around Leeds soon. I saw a thread about Leeds games on here a while ago but couldnt find it next time i tried looking. Will probably start a new one.

Well it's Sky Poker Tour, so if you said you were going to a sky poker tour event then A would be correct, but when you say it as an acronym, then I believe AN is correct. Although as I type that I'm confused myself because you would say 'he is an FBI agent' but also 'he is a CIA agent'.... so I really dunno if there's a rule, just whatever doesn't sound wrong Smiley

I play a bit live, not half as much as I'd like to, and that was one of my goals for 2013 (to get out and play live more). Apart from Dublin last week, I think I've been to every SPT for the last like 18 months so probably 10 events ish, played most of the mains in them, and some side events. Played the Monte Carlo for TSP obv but other than that mostly just the odd pub game.

Live poker is just a million times more fun than online imo.

I have a great mix, Greg Wilson, where he plays this.  Will link it for you later on.

Viz your acronym dilemma, read the sentence out loud and that will tell you what to write.

If you say the letters (which you will generally do), then that's all that matters and whichever form of the indefinite article the first letter takes will be the one you use.

If you were for some reason intending the reader to say the words and that meant a different indefinite article being applied (say because the word begins with N), that should be what you write.

You are communicating and that means you're telling the recipient something. Call it a stage direction Smiley

At the moment its purely just because of the added costs of travelling/accommodation on top of the hefty buy ins (hefty in terms of my usual buyins).

I will definitely travel to one in the future, I just have to wait till the financial situation improves Smiley. They look and sound like really good events so will definitely be at one soon (hopefully).

Have a think about Newcastle 14 September

Closest one to Leeds

£100 buy in but a two day Deepstack so a really good structure

Usually a very good social occasion, and you'll meet plenty of regs

If you have the £ then, thats probably the one for you

Didnt realise you had been to that many SPTs! What are the side events like? They pretty cheap arent they? The sides may be better for me with my tournament skills lol. A smaller loss sounds more attractive.

Do cash games normally run as well?

Yeah i will have a look around at hotels etc. I have the roll to take a punt with the buy in its just the added costs. If i can find anything cheap i will definately consider it and set aside cash winnings to fund it Smiley.

Regarding the Acronym. I won't pretend to understand everything Tal said Smiley but the general consensus seems to be whatever sounds right. I will go with that Smiley.

I was looking for a fairly long session yesterday but had to turn off after an hour as the lag was unbearable and it threw me half my tables anyway. Thought it would probably be a problem at my end but seen others had the same problem so I have nothing to worry about with the new computer (well, new second hand computer lol)

Anyway after the hour i was a total of £4 down so pretty much a breakeven session. No real hands of note that i can remember, i may find some when looking through later but doubt it.

Target - £400

Last session - -£4

New Target - £154
