Hi everyone.
Would greatly appreciate some help in choosing a new laptop as I don't have a clue what to get.
Only really want it to play in the online DTD card room and stream a few films , Iplayer and the like.
My budget only 300- 500 and after hearing all the negative stuff about windows 8 think I would definitely prefer not to have it.
Thanks for any advice  : )

300-500 is a good budget.

My crappy e-machine has been with me 7 years & still the best runner.

But if it's only really basic stuff you want to do, perhaps consider those chromebooks? They are £200 (ish) and I am sure they will be able to let you browse and play poker freely with a decent wifi.

Mmm I was wondering if a chromebook would work for poker. Does anyone know or use one ?
Tbh the cheaper the better but I'm not happy about buying cheap crap as that always works out more expensive in the long run. Would like it to last at least few years .

I just got this notebook with the extra 2g it suggests for under £200, perfect for poker, browsing and watching stuff.

Anything with Intel i5 processor or higher will do whatever you need. Minimum 4GB RAM (more is better)
Why the win 8 non love. I think it's great and I work with computers.

This looks quite good with decent reviews

The best laptop I bought myself was a Samsung.

It'll cost a bit more, but an SSD (solid state drive) is a good investment imo.

thumbs up

Can recommend the Samsungs quite highly. I dropped my series 5 in a car park and it survived the knock so they're quite robust.

I hated windows 8 at first but now I'm used to it it's fine. Still prefer 7 for the interface but 8 works so much quicker.

Start up from cold is within 5 seconds.

Dell are generally good and reliable laptops, I have previously bought and supplied quite a few to Blondes and friends and some Blonde friends. Sorry I haven't got any at the moment so cant offer you one.
