Sky poker comp at Aspers in Stratford.

£220 buy in.

Blinds 300/600/50

I have approx 30k. Villain 80k. BB about the same. Villain hasn't really done anything spectacular, couple of c bets that have either got through or he folded to a raise. BB is terrible, old Luton reg. I'm not being unkind either, he genuinely is terrible, and easy to read from his style of play. I.e he bets big when he has it, check calls when drawing etc.

So, villain opens to 1500, I flat the cut off, BB makes it up.

Flop is 5 6 6ss

BB checks, villain bets 3300, I call (this ok?) BB calls. Turn  as the turn is dealt, I'm watching the villain, who seems to like this cars. BB checks, villain checks. what we doing now?

I think bet for value. Your read might be off, he might like the card because he now has a pair of nines, and how often does he check when he really likes the card (ie. 78s, 99)

Bet for value and re-evaluate on river. If we get check-raised we can happily fold.

Ok, I wasn't far out. I bet 5900. Both called quite quickly.

River

BB checks. Villain asks how much I have. I tell him 20kish. He nods and throws in 4x 5k chips.

Don't see how you can call here unless you have a soul read on villain.

What decision is there now?

We have the big blind behind us, who could easily have a straight, and villain should realise this so is surely ~never bluffing. You also have a turn read that the nine helped villain, and even if villain somehow has some weird bluff or hand turned into a bluff, is the big blind folding a straight given your description of him?

I still think betting the turn into 2 players is a mistake, there are so many cards that leave us unable to get any value from the river. Are we not better to check the turn with a view to calling the river?.
In a cash game I would probably agree with betting the turn for value but in a tournament I am not sure it is the best play unless we are significantly deeper.

cant call all in here now

Assume you folded and he showed you a bluff hence the thread?

I folded. He told me what he had. But didn't show, so will never know for sure.

I was really more interested in how I played upto the river. I did take about 2 minutes to fold the river though, which is a long time for me.

I honestly didn't think he could have a 7, or even a 6. I was more thinking 99 or Ax or Kx Spades. Is that thinking OK?
