Advice on Vegas schedule
«

I'm going to Vegas this summer for a month during WSOP where I'll be staying in a house with 7 other players, a few of which have already set a schedule and have backing in place.
I like the idea of taking each day as it comes. There are tournaments every day of all different buy ins so you could wake up judge your morale and based on the success of the trip so far pick which tournament you'd like to play. However selling action means I can't have this luxury and I'll need to make a schedule.
I already have in mind the Venetian deepstacks and a few of the low WSOP events on the weekend. There's going to be a festival at Caesar's Palace and at the Aria; are these worth looking at?
My decision on whether to play the main event at first was to play only if I qualify but I have now decided to play it either way. I made this decision so I could sell for it in advance and I'd really like to play it this year incase I'm not in a position to do so over the next few years. This year has been pretty decent so far in my transition back to live cash games.
As for the $1k/$1.5k wsop events, are the structures good enough to justify putting more than one or any in the schedule?
Any other advice about the trip poker or non-poker related are welcome as are your questions.

I've never played anything bar the main event, but a lot of better players than I think that they're really good once you get out of day 1.
You have 3k/4.5k chips, an hour clock and all the levels, so whilst it's a bit quicker on the front end of things, once you get to the meat of the tournament there is a lot more play.
This is as opposed to the 'Deepstacks' where you start with more chips, but the structures are quicker with levels missing on the most part.

Marky is exactly right, the 1ks/1.5ks are fine, it isn't like you start with 20 BBs either, blinds are 25/25 then 25/50. Probably in the middle of day 1 it gets a bit crapshooty, but later on, you start to get space to play again. The standard is "variable".
One exception was the ante only comp which was an absolute crapshoot throughout, but enormous fun because of that.

The Wynn has a nice card room and some fairly good guarantees. There structures are good too. Unfortunately am getting there too late and the $5k is a bit rich.

Yeah would have been nice to catch a couple of those $500 ones.
Trophies are pretty cool too.

I've never played at the Aria, but I haven't heard anything bad about the place and their daily tournament is rated as one of the better ones.
For me Venetian by far is the best series, with the biggest fields and best prizepools. That of course brings the better players, but there should still be plenty of roflcopters activity going on to ensure they are great value.
The Caesars tournamnents they fling loads of chips at you, so that the people who like to start with lots of chips are dragged in. This means they are full of value, however, when you're looking around for these chips later at the final you'll probably have around 10bb...
Aria I have never played at, but the cardroom is supposed to be up there with the Venetian, and their daily tournament outside of festivals is fairly well supported.
Bellagio normally runs $500s or $1k tourneys daily, not sure which it will be this year. These get better support as the series goes on and generate some pretty hefty prizepools as June goes on. They used to play these in the Fontana lounge in the good old days, and it really was a great place to play. I've not been there for a few years, but last time I was there they ran the tournaments out of the cash room, and you're crammed in like sardines.
Downtown have their own festivals, which don't generate anywhere near the prizepools of the ones on the strip. That said, they're plenty soft too and you meet some interesting people there
The Golden Nugget's series is orientated towards mixed games and their smaller daily is a holdem. Their main event on the 1st July is a $1.1k buyin with 25k chips and an hour clock, great tournament and Mr Mitch Johnson finalled it last year.
Binions has a $1k whilst you're there too on the 26th June, that has 30k chips and an hour clock, but misses a few levels out. Another good tournament though that gives a nice change of scene

Forgot the 'Rio daily deepstacks'
Thanks to Aussie Rhino from 2p2
$235 (15k start) has moved from 2pm to 3pm.
$185 (10k start) and $135 (5k start) stay at 6pm and 10pm respectively.
They haven't uploaded the structure sheets, but have indicated that level length (30 mins), starting stacks, late registration and re-entries (up to end of level 4) will be the same as last year. And registration once again in the Pavilion Room.
In terms of numbers, once again I'd assume there'd be pretty big fields. 2012 results also include field size info.
http://pokerdb.thehendonmob.com/festival.php?a=r&n=10731
As a guide, for the $235, field size started at around 300, grew to 700 within a week, passed through 1,000 mid-June (even midweek) and the midweek fields started tapering off into July. Some days attendance depends on other events around town (eg. DSE / Wynn / Binions / GPS / Ceasars) who all offer events under $500 throughout June.

Yea those $235s were getting $50k ftw and going well into the night (ldo) Very tempting reward for the outlay for those gravitating towards the Rio without a WSOP bankroll, but the $235 = head down and charge for 12 hours.

If you're selling action absolutely try to do it all before you go, unless you know enough people out there who can/will buy and will pay in cash as most people will want to send on stars so it makes it hard to access the money for the event

Some good advice here Iam looking at playing a schedule from June 22nd-6th July ( Iam over in America for 9 months coaching football)I was just wondering what the best way off buying into these events I don't have much cash on me but have so on my card is it worth buying in on card or should I start withdrawing the max everyday now at $2 a time for $300 so I have my roll with me In cash! Appreciate any advice, thanks.

I would probably just start stocking up before you head to Vegas, and then you can dump it in the safe when you arrive. I'm there basically the same dates, definitely not coaching Football though
