Staking Rules

Just a few comments in regards to the staking rules.
We have a lot of new members on here now who mostly play at DTD. If they are the same as me, they very rarely post but like reading through the forums. I'm coming up to 3 years as a member on here in August, but still don't have 300 posts, however would like the option to stake or be staked.
Could there be an alternative to the 300 post minimum, such as a minimum membership time? This would give those who post less often an opportunity to put up staking threads, or to buy a stake in others.
I welcome your thoughts and comments.
Thanks

There is a combination of time and number of posts.
It's to help protect both sides, and also means the staking boards are a privilege that blonde members earn for contributing to the forum.

Hi Ceri,
We think the 300 Post thing is the least worst option. The biggest negative it has is when people try to artificially reach 300 Posts by flood-posting drivel. That is so transparent, & most blondes are savvy enough to see through it.
It is not ideal, no, & plenty of people don't agree, which is fair enough, but on balance, we don't know a better way, & the important thing is that, for the most part, we don't have much problem with non-payers.
I think an alternative view might be that folks like yourself, who have been here a long time but don't Post much, might struggle to get staked. Why? Not because you are not deemed worthy, but by far the great majority of staking on blonde is sort of "Community" staking, where we support our forum friends & colleagues. By definition, these folks embrace the Community here & Post more. Not saying that is right or wrong, but it is a fact. "Strangers", be that fair or otherwise, rarely get staked, this is not 2+2.

The actual guideline is
- You may offer to stake players, or ask for staking, but only if you have a minimum of 300 forum posts and have been a member of the forum for at least three months.
Both are arbitrary, but it works very well. This can be seen in the every low level of problems we have on the board, such as grimming
Yes it does exclude some people who prefer to read rather than post but I don't see much that needs changing really
The occasional person posts nonsense to try to get to 300 quickly, but by and large we don't see much of that either

I wanted to ask this question for a long time... I guess I may be next to smashedagain in reading the forum on a daily basis... I am more interested in buying pieces of actions of fellow blondes rather than getting staked as I am more of a rec player .. But I guess rules are rules!!!

Can posters with fewer than 300 posts see the staking board and just cannot post or is it totally blocked for them?

Needing 300 posts before you can ask for a staking thread is a Good Rule that I think helps stop people from getting grimmed.
Needing 300 posts before you can buy a piece is a stupid rule that doesn't do anyone any favours- how can you get grimmed? Just ask for all money up front from anyone you don't know well, anyone who doesn't pay before the event isn't booked.
Since the second rule is totally ignored anyway (I've just looked through the top threads on the staking forum and 80% of them have sold via Facebook/ via PM/ in person/ on other forums etc.) it doesn't matter anyway. So Ceri, if you want to buy a bit, just PM the thread starter.
(If the answer is that from a technical point of view on the forum software can't block people with fewer than 300 posts from starting a thread but still allow them to post, then fair enough, but just say that).

If only it were that complicated. I just don't think it crossed our minds, to be honest.
You make a fair point as to buyers, as opposed to sellers, but it rarely causes a problem in truth, because it is so easy to circumvent, & nobody ever "flood Posts" to enable them to BUY, only to sell.
