I have chosen to apply for a caxton dollar currency card as a way of taking funds out there with me but please feel there is any other cards or a better option to take funds out there with me http://www.caxtonfx.com/currency-cards/.  I will be staying in the quad resort formerly known as the imperial palace i have chosen this as it allows me to keep down expenses and the room was completely fine the last time i stayed there last year and is also in a central location on the strip.  I have been to vegas twice before 1st time was not for poker and 2nd time i was only there for a week so this will be my 1st time doing it properly.  Right now i am buzzing about it all and cant wait to get out there i actually travel to america on the 2nd june to see my mate in orlando then i leave orlando on the 4th june to go to new york to visit my other mate then fly from new york to vegas on the 10th.  I also plan on taking a trip to area 51 while im there i have already been to the grand canyon.

Hope to catch up with some of you out there please feel free to give me any advise.

Thanks Conor

Conor, good to see you here!

There is a thread which you should read from start to finish, here.....

http://blondepoker.com/forum/index.php?topic=56335.0

When you have done that, there are loads of folk here who can offer help & advice based on dozens of Vegas trips, but particularly two lads, "Marky147" & Simon Galloway.

Any Vegas questions, you'd not go far wrong asking them, but stick them on the "Vegas Trip Info" Thread for best results.

Hi m8, this is the best prepaid currency card http://www.fairfx.com/moneysupermarket3

I'd stay away from downtown, you don't want to play down there as they're really tough (may not be true)

In the first post on the other thread there is a google doc of all festivals during the WSOP, and also links to them on their respective websites.

Hi mark thanks do you think it is a better deal with this card as opposed to the caxton currency card?  Also yea ive never been downtown in the 2 trips i have been to vegas so not really sure what its like there the reason why i picked a few tourneys downtown is as they are 6 max and its my favourite format.

This card is put up as the best foreign currency card on the moneysavingexpert website, and the website is generally pretty solid from experience.

I really like downtown, I stayed at the Golden Nugget for just under 2 of my 3 weeks last year, and will be again this year too. It's very different from the strip, but I prefer it and will be there again this year from the 21st.

Take everything yiou have, a coupole of credit cards and access to a personal loan agreement.
Often do the triple circuit of Rio, Venetian, Caesars in one day - it has to be done.
Have the best summer of your life.

Seriously tho, after doing a few summers I think its all about having a plan; then sticking to it - with some flexibility within rules you make yourself.  Keeping life money seprate is a good idea; essential if selling action as well.  I can be biggest degen in world and Lucky Scrote is spot on, so I always have seperate rolls / spending money, buy in advance, leave entries on deposit at casinos etc.  If I have a blow out I can afford it.

There are so many value spots in Vegas, $10k roll is plenty to give yourslef a shot at a profitable summer - however sample size is small over a month and you need to be clear before you go on how much of this is shot taking and an experience and how much is work with a serious ROI target.  If the later, you shouldnt be playing the $1k - $1.5k IMO from a $10k roll.  Your focus should be on the disciplines you excel at.  If youre a good SnG player the sats are good value at the lower end; play these with some "shot targets" with the lammers you win.  If youre an MTT specilislaist, focus on the smaller $400 Venetian events, Golden Nugget, Ceasras, Aria and Dailiys at the Rio at around the $200-$400 ABI mark.  The problem I found first year when I took a similar amount to you is you are putting too much in play when you play a $1k-$1.5k at the Rio and it has an impact psycologically as well as on your roll. 3 turns to 4 and its easy to brick 5 on the spin.

If its a "shot summer" - well you can do what you want; all Id say is four weeks is a long time - and I think the better plan is a solid schedule at $300-$400.

Good luck
