Hiya All.  Smiley  Thanks to a daft prop bet between technolog and I, he's running his first 10k this Saturday.  I'm at risk of getting a tattoo if he passes the line before me.  I won't be running.  More of a fast walk...at best.  Jack has been training hard and should crush this, provided he doesn't trip up along the way.  I can only hope.

It was suggested we add a charity element to our madness, so we've opted for Macmillan.  We were a bit optimistic - setting a target of £1,000.  Currently the total is £291 and we're hoping to boost that up a bit.  It's for an excellent cause and we really appreciate your support.

That's us below.  Except that I've recently gone brunette.  And Jack's gone a bit grey...from dealing with me.   Cheesy

Thanks everyone!!!

Thanks to a few more stars, we're now at £381 raised!!!  Being realistic, 1k was a silly target, but it would be great if we could hit the £500 mark.   Smiley

While I have you here, anyone know of a good tattoo artist in the Leicester/Notts area?     Bar a miracle, it looks like I'll be getting my first ever tattoo when this is over.

Cheers!

I really enjoyed it!

It didn't go to plan exactly, but not in a bad way. I started right at the back of my 'wave' and was forced to go slower than I wanted for the first kilometre or so. The terrain map on the website led me to believe it was all uphill for the first half AND tougher than my training runs had been, so I carried on taking my time to make sure I kept a bit in reserve. It turns out it was a fair bit easier than I'd been used to and I hardly noticed any upward trend. Anyway I felt great at 5km and picked the pace up overtaking around 20 people in the second 5km. So my time was a bit disappointing at 1hr 0m 36s. A good day however. Best of all, so far we've raised nearly £700 for Macmillan Cancer Support. If you want to chip in with a few bob more, apparently the page will take donations for another three months. Thanks to the generous souls that already raided their piggy banks - it's very much appreciated!

My daughter Sarah flew over from Ireland for the week-end to help cheer him on...

Has the tattoo been done yet? Smiley

I discussed it with someone who enjoys designing tattoos.  She drew up a few based on our chat and showed them to me at the week-end.  I'm just waiting on her to make a few modifications to one (my kid's initials are being incorporated in the design) ...then it's full steam ahead, god help me.

Need to find a decent place to have it done in the Notts/Leicester area.  Anyone recommend a good tattoo shop?
