Another Monte Carlo hand
«

So my table has just broken.
I get moved to a new table and I'm UTG
We are playing 600-1200/100
I have approx 40k - average is about 60k.
I haven't even unracked my chips yet but I'm dealt a hand.
I peek at my cards and I'm rewarded by the sight of two lovely black aces.
I make it 2500 to play.
Passed round to an Asian guy, about 30. He's unknown to me but very smartly dressed (suit I think) and wearing a very flashy watch - probably a Rolex - although it might be fake lol.
He makes 6500 to play.
We smooth call, click it back or shove? And why?

Stick the tray over and say you wont bother unpacking whilst gazing towards the bar imo.
Click should be worst but I imagine this is a situation where we can get away with it. Flat would be my preference apart from opponent.
Edit: I'm sure I read this as 25k stack, confused with sizing maybe. If he has chunks a big shove gets called by a lot of his big pairs, but if he has 40-60k, I'm not sure, 4betting seems to make the most sense anyway as I just don't see him folding.

Assuming he has more than us and assuming stacks behind aren't particularly interesting, your physical read implies a raise to 14k might induce a shove.
Calling is my least preferred option there.

i think making a small 4bet is fine, I also think peeling is fine as well with the intention of checking every single flop.
edit: assuming he covers and nothing interesting happening behind...

Sorry, he has me covered, but probably has less than average - maybe 50-55k

4bet, defo defo defo 4bet.
Worst case he folds and you start the table off looking like a bit of a G and people will likely fuck with you less...
I'd make it 16,500

I'm deff flatting here. yiu just sat down your racking your chips. he has no reads on you but it doesnt take much to 3b you in that position to put you to a test. Lets keep our range as wide as possible just incase he is 3betting wide. If you 4bet i dont think he will ever 5b ram his bluffs with no reads and he also may be the type to 3bfold value hands for info?.

i dont want to shove for sure.
so it puts us into call or 4bet.
i think calling is the best, get a cbet out of him almost always and often a turn bet too if he has any equity.
People hate folding post flop so with a smallish SPR I imagine we will get decent amount of value.

Seems such a likely spot for him to 3b us light here that I thought I definitely wouldn't shove and think calling is best due to reasons Pads has already said, seems so unlikely Middy is wrong though

Calling - pot will be ~ 15k with 33.5k back, he's highly likely to try to get it all-in by the river, both with worse for value and as a bluff, whereas he will fold most of his range to a 4b, unless we make it really small. Don't like doing that without a dynamic as he will likely assume our hand is what it is and only do anything if he flops bigger than us. With stacks as they are the only 4bet that makes sense is all-in, and if he has a value-hand that wants to go with it preflop he'll often want to go with it postflop too.
