You have a daughter who does drugs. She is in a bad way trying to get clean but owes money to several local dealers. £400 - £2000. You find her phone book and ring up all the dealers and ask them if they wish to meet and be paid up in full... Say we have several. Will they show up? not bother and scratch the debt? The meetings were with the Dad at any local place the dealer wanted and at any time. (this is not me btw..

Are you one of the dealers then? Would say the majority of them send an assistant to collect.

Well they 100% don't cancel the debt under any circumstances.
They will likely send an assistant to collect from a public place.
Some of them may insist on getting it back in product or demanding the daughter works the debt off though. Obviously they should be told to gfy in this instance though as they'd only be interested in getting her hooked again.

They won't be happy about being contacted.
They won't show up.
They won't scratch the debt.

3 of them didn't even want to meet, under any circumstances. The debt was wiped. 4 arranged to meet and did not show, the depts were cleaned. The given Dad would have hurt them had any turned up, maybe they knew? it was story told to me last week in pub by someone who i was told didn't bullshit. Why would he..just kinda suprised depts wiped

Dealers are paranoid about getting caught so don't meet strangers in the park to discuss drug stuff. Don't see why they would cancel the debt.

Well they didn't chase the girl for any money so I assume given it was about 4 years ago they wiped.
Can confirm the Dad was connected but he was sure they didn't know. Think he was a little niave in thinking any of them would turn up.

Depends entirely on who the dealers are
Had several friends with mid 4 figure debts all dealt with in different ways from parents paying all and buying cars/holidays for the kids after, to stealing parents TVs/laptops and getting a good hiding for the rest and moving country to solve the bigger problem
But as mondatoo said can't imagine those debts were truly wiped unless they knew who the Dad was and his intentions

If your plan was to a) beat the crap out of them or b) have them taken in by the police, why would you tell them you're the dad of a girl that owes you money? Have the girl contact the drug dealer and say 'a friend wants something, do you mind if i give him your number?' and then play it like you're another punter. They won't be happy about being contacted.
They won't show up.
They won't scratch the debt.
This, I would have thought.

I'm slightly surprised no one showed up to collect the money.
But I'm really surprised the debt has been wiped.
Must be some sort of chance the dealers knew the father was connected/hard.
