Why on earth would we rather have A4? With A7 we beat a plausible value hand - A4 - and with A4 we chop against that hand and block it.

because A4 blocks his most likely value hand - 44, meaning there's only 1 combo of 44.

On the flop I'd rather have our hand than A4 though.
