Every college at Cambridge has drinking/social societies. Some have a few. Others have blooming loads. Generally sports based but there are others. Swaps are when a society from one college meets a society from another college for a refined soirée.

Felt like I fit in.

Really?

That's pretty sad, you are clearly the most liked and respected poster/player on Blondepoker.

Maybe everyone is a bit intimidated by you.

I don't know which part of that post is furthest from the truth. (Well I do actually,  but l'm touched all the same)

I can't believe anyone is intimidated by me. I go out of my way not to tread on toes. I write at least half a dozen posts a day and then delete them in case they offend anyone.

The most recent was going to be the start of a series called 'Markup debate of the week' but I decided that some people might think I was having a pop.

Are you winding me up Keith? I'm regretting the op already.

Not winding you up at all.

Intimidated by you because you are wiser and more intelligent than the mere mortals on here.

And if we take a different opinion to you in thread we usually end being either proved wrong or humiliated or (usually) both.
I take issue with the italics but I'm careful in general when it comes to discussing most things and especially challenging "Big Red".

I've never been to South America. Thats frustrating. Never been to a major international sporting event, ie World Cup/Euros, RWC, Olympics. I've been to both Wembleys, the old one for a football qualifier, England vs Bulgaria. The game was 0-0 and we were sat in the rafters. My dad probably paid £120 for the experience. Still worth it imo.

It was the only time I saw the towers though! 3-1 Tranmere vs Palace better value.

I see. Sounds like fun!
Suppose I'll have to add Never been to a swap now. Or Cambridge. Or a college for that matter Cry
Still can't quite believe you've never had a curry or chewed gum though. I had you down as a sophisticated man of the world.
Now I'm getting a distinct Roy Cropper vibe Wink

I used to go to Wembley most Friday evenings in the late 1960's for the greyhound racing.

There was no heating in those days and in the winter they used to have those brazier things that people roasted chestnuts on in the corridors and everyone gathered around for a warm in between races.

My Dad owned greyhounds in the 60s. They had a runner at Wembley and were in the Royal Box (dunno why) and I always remember my dad teasing my Mum that should have gone to the loo to sit on the same throne as the Queen.

Had the conversation the other day. Seemed apt to post it here.
