Tighty's Tournament Fund.
«

When I saw Tighty at DTD this weekend I asked him when he was going to play his £1K or 2x£500 tourneys with the fund that has been in place for what seems like at least a year now.
He said that there was "no chance" of that happening for the forseeable future due to his updating commitments. The poor guy is just so good at his job that he is genuinely indispensable.
One thing that had been mooted previously was getting him an i-pad which would make life immeasurably better for him especially when doing his "round with Tighty" features and hands at the table in general, although I've not seen it mentioned for a while.
When I suggested to Tighty that maybe it would be a good idea to use half of the tourney fund to get himself an i-pad and leave the other half to play a tourney as and when the opportunity arose he intimated that he would be very happy to do that if everyone else agreed.
How do people feel about this?

If he played the tourney and won he could buy as many I pads as he liked.
I have no problem with the proposal, but the reality is, tighty could easily be afforded time to play an event if he wanted. And infact if you think about it, it would probably generate quite a lot of views on an update thread, as people would want to see how tighty actually did. There would be no shortage of people wanting to update FOC for the day/weekend because tighty has done such a good job (several including myself have already offered).
Lets face it, there is a strong chance he will bust day 1 (not a measure of his play obv), and if he doesn't then the rail/thread for any deep run will be incred.
Im just not sure why this "hasn't got time" tag is sticking because its bollocks IMO. Pretty sure if for some unspecified reason tighty pulled Kylie Minogue one Friday and she promised him a Saturday full of drugs and sex, he'd pass on the update that day. And for the same reason tighty should play an MTT imo
And the reality is the fund is big enough for an I pad and an MTT if that's what happens. But id sooner see him play an MTT. I want to see him next to Rastafish for 4 hours and see how the years of watching the great man have made him un-tilt-able

Why don't DTD just flick him an iPad? If its going to help him with work per cé, seems like it would be reasonable...

Ugh this is a bit embarrassing
I am certainly not indispensable
I will play the next Monte Carlo or DTD UKIPT for sure. The last Monte Carlo was awkward for me to play, as I had a couple of work commitments for it that were tricky to turn down. Being self-employed at the recreational end of poker isn't a bundle of laughs and whilst I would have loved to play and let the people who kindly offered update, the reality is that I was unlikely to cash and earning money was more important
Probably the UKIPT looking at the DTD schedule for H 2. I do think it should be at DTD, the tournament I play
If there is anything left, then maybe an Ipad becomes an option. Thanks to Karabiner for the notion!

For the lookalikes alone its gotta be worth it..... I will get the ball rolling with £20.

But nothing seems to be happening on it. Tighty's updates are by far the best and if an ipad makes
his life easier then let's just get him one. No politics , debating for a couple of months , wishy washy talk.
With an ipad he may give us more weather updates on the betting thread

Self employed journalist just buy one and claim it on tax surely? It's indispensable part of your job.

Looks like there about 1400 collected. Possibly more, that's enough for a 1k and iPad?
Gukpt Luton seems a good idea, local to Tighty and no expenses etc.

If people have funded for 2 tourneys, for the sweat/banter & updates why would they want to drop one to pay for something which as a journalist he should already have?
Not hating as im not part of it, is it too late now i assume? Just as Pleno says suprised either DTD dont sort him out or he just gets one himself as it would make his job alot easier

I didn't see the original Tighty fund thread. So I will put in £20 towards an iPad instead.
Completely deserves it IMO.

How does the updating system work. Use 1k of the money to put tighty in gukpt main event Luton so no personal expense. Use money left over to pay for an updaters expenses.
Gukpt Luton is in oct.

We wouln't be updating a GUkpt, currently. I intend to play an event at Dtd. Think that's appropriate, given they have contributed. Dtd ukipt, probably
