I open Qh9h to $40 from co, bb peels. Guy in mid 40s, recognise him from a previous trip, would describe him as a weak reg. Both playing ~$3k.

Flop:

He pauses and check calls $60

Turn (pot $205)

He leads $85, I make it $250, he calls quite quickly.

River 10h (pot $705)

He quickly bets $800

Why why why would he bet the river when you are obviously betting regardless of what you're holding. I'm guessing he's pretty stupid which makes me think there is obviously a chance he has the old TenQue very much.

Can you rule out 77 and 99? It looks likely he has a Q on the turn so I'd probably rule those hands out esp since most people will probably 3b 99 pre. Any FD's that have magically made a straight on the river would most likely fold to a jam so I think calling with the 2nd nuts is pretty LOL but probably the best line.

are people reading much into his 'overbet' size. given it's live and people 'spread the pot' rather than calculating how many chips are in there, he might have just guestimated and tried to bet 'around pot'.
