struggling with this type of hands tonight

i am crusing at the moment top 3 stack about 15 runners left and i am building up chips without many hands
this i raise MP with a suited broadway ace and get shoved on
if i fold i can get the chips back at a later date hopefull without running into a cold deck
but i am +EV over the guys range with includes pairs down too 44 and QJs+ K9s+ A6o+

Scenario one) you have to be playing bb effective, although ICM you need to take into account if you feel you are ahead of their range and still have 10bb to play with after call. its opponent & stack specific but in this example not only are you ahead of his range (In Your Opinion) but if you lose you have 10bb still which is still enough. In certain spots vs other chipleaders then you fold but people have to call the shorties and longterm it will be +ev given this instance IMO


2) Again its down to your reads on the table, i am never 3 betting for value here just for bluffs or if we can outplay postflop. In this instance since you rep a biggish pair/AK/AQ sort of hand would be worth the c bet with the flush draw as they will fold a good % where they have no equity, if we check we have to fold to any bet and aim to check down but we are oop so would prefer bet/fold flop

If you're plan is to raise a lot and try to steal (and I'm thinking it should be), then you have to remember that we have to be prepared to call off wider vs the players that are going to adjust to us, otherwise we will end up getting massively exploited!

Hand 2: probs bet flop and evaluate, there will be sooooo much in the middle by the turn I might be tempted to do something funky.  If you're cbet gets raised / shoved over then we probs have to go away.

ok hand 1 he turned up with 88 i dont think its bottom of his range
players will 3b very wide around the time of the bubble as they think
people wont call and risk missing out

hand 2 i wanted pot control and didnt think he would do anything stupid with our stacks think there was about 18 players left
so had average stacck for when we hit the money he turned up with AQ for the split i suppose i could of repped a bigger pair on flop and turn

just didnt want too walk into a trap

Sometimes they will be trapping but it's a risk you have to take.  If they do trap, just make a note and move on.

Hand 1 is opponent specific and we can go either way. I think your range for villain is far too wide readless and if this is their range it is a very clear call.

Hand 2- I am pretty much never 3 betting with this specific hand oop without history.Your hand is way too strong to fold but not strong enough to 3b/call in these games. Just peel and play down the streets as a default line.

Two different scenarios, the aq hand you only have to think about your exact equity vs the limpers range. Your shoving so dont need to worry about how the hand plays postflop.

The  second AJ hand is completely different. Your AJ may be ahead of the OR's range but imo 3b is a mistake. Your hand plays ok vs his open but not against the hands he will call the 3b with and if he 4b shoves we're not loving it. When he calls the 3b we've inflated the pot OOP in a now marginal spot and if we're folding to a 4b then we're essentially turning the hand into a bluff.

Think this is my first strategy post ever so apologies if it sounds like waffle. It makes sense in my head though.

I like the 3 bet FWIW. Looking at the positions it looks like button vs big blind and OR is button (correct me if I'm wrong). His button opening range and call 3 bet will contain a lot of hands we dominate so I like it. Only mistake I see is not cbetting the flop
