Q When is €1,000,000 guaranteed prize pool not a €1million prizepool?

A When it's a Full Tilt sponsored event!

Unbelievably tight of them to take the 3% for the dealers tip off the guarantee to make it a €970k prizepool.

After 831 x €100 reg fees and this 30k for the dealers, the overlay is actually only €28k.

Actually "unbelievably tight" should read "blindingly predictable"

How many dealers were there? How much will they get each? 30k sounds very nice deal for them. I presume they get their wages + expenses so why are players forced to tip? Thought tips were supposed to be a voluntary thing for good service etc. Is this the norm? £30k sounds little excessive to me.......... IDK?

Common fare in the US to skim a percentage off the top as a service charge. I don't like it, but then I'm not supposed to; it doesn't benefit me, the punter.

I was told there was 80 dealers so nearly 400 each.

I don't begrudge them a decent payday because they are excellent but surely that is what the reg fee is supposed to cover?

But taking a percent from the pool leads to operators think they can get away with min wages and let the players take the strain.

I would absolutely tip a small amount if I cash if they didn't withhold. But asking me if I want to tip after already taking 3 p was taking the piss IMO.

Shorting the guarantee was not surprising but pretty cheap.

I've been on both sides of it.  Have worked for big events in Ireland where we get a percent of the tips and have also cashed in tourneys where they ask if you'd like to leave a tip - when they've already sliced off the prize pool for it.  Very few things in the poker world 'tilt' me, but that is very definitely one of them...despite the fact I would have been on the receiving end of the 'extras' at times.  So many levels of wrong (borders on bullying imo) to request tips from players as your walking them to the cash desk.

Another good thing about DtD is there was no pressure to tip in the mini deepstack last week, I've been pressured to leave something for the dealers even when I just about won my buy in back in some UK casinos (thin more than min cashed for once brag I know!)

Dtd do normally ask if you want to leave a tip for the dealers, on the deepstack comps.
