My local casino offers a bonus for early registration, which I find understandable for a number of reasons. However they also penalise players for late registration by way of when they play their first hand they have to post the small and big blind, regardless of where they are sat. Feasibly this can see a player sit straight into the BB, post 300 into the pot AND their BB of 200...all this from say a 7.5k stack.
Just wondering if anywhere else does this?

Seems ridiculous. Get them to speak to another casino in their group?

Broadway has long had that if you enter a comp late, you pay a penalty of one BB. Same if you reenter.
Seems entirely reasonable to me.

The casinos in Leeds used to do this. I thought it was pretty standard.
Ridiculous of course. But standard.

Explain please? Don't turn up late. Why not? Also, you think it's a good idea on re-entries? Suppose the answer is don't get knocked out

Explain please? Don't turn up late. They already have a penalty for turning up late; they don't get the bonus. Penalising them twice does seem a bit silly.

Leeds grovsenor westgate (gala) used to penalise with 1 sb 1bb but have now scrapped it and replaced with a 10% bonus for registering on time and being at the table when first hand is dealt. Top and bottom of it is they want you inside the place for longer to spend your money.

Genting Edinburgh used to do this until all the regs complained that people were being punished twice for showed late and it turned people off from showing up late which ultimately cost them the entries. They changed it and everyone is happy

Think this use to be the general rule when late regging was first brought in, but think most places have done away with it now. Your local is Bristol gala isnt it?

agree with the replies that it's ridiculous
i know leeds (former) gala used to penalise players for reging late, to the point where when they had enough late entries to a tournament, they would open a new table for the 9 or 10 players, and everyone had to put their penalties into the first pot, so in the first had at 25/50 you'd have the BB and SB, PLUS 10x BB and 10x SB.
however now that genting has taken over, this is no longer the case.
my only gripe with them is that they have decided that in order to start tournaments on time (a great idea btw) they close entry 15 minutes before the start time to allow them to sort the tables. i fully appreciate that getting started on time is very important, however with decent software and staff surely they can start on time with only a couple of minutes "closed" time on the buy in desk
ho hum, just adding my thoughts
