Buying action in players for MTTs

Hey!
Say you are playing 5 or 6 MTT's and someone, or a couple of people buy "action"
Is it normally just done on a % split, so if buy in's were £200, and they took £20, 10%, they would just get 10% of any winnings.
This is the easiest sounding way, just wondering if this was the standard?
Thanks

Hey!
If I bought 50% of a friend in a £100 tournament and they cash for £200, I get £100 back.
Another deal might be where you get put into a tournament but get to keep 30% as a freeroll, then it might be common practice for the investor to receive his whole buy-in back before winnings are distributed.

Just as an aside from dans post which pretty much answered your question a markup constitutes vig paid by the action buyer. For example, I'm selling for the main event 10k$. I decide I represent extremely good value so decide to charge 1.2. This would mean anyone buying a piece would pay $1200 for 10%. Say I cash for 19000. The investor would get a straight 10% back for a 1900$ return.
