First hand of a 9-handed final table and we have average chips.

Sitting 5/9 with 30K and blinds are 800/1600.

We find bare naked AA37 UTG.....

limp?

Yeah I like limp/pot, I imagine we have the skills to cope with a limped pot and with gameflow people will make mistakes, it kinda sucks turning our hand faceup bit we are morelikely to get a fold or a headsup pot. Even if the table is really passive and we go 7ways then I can't see an issue, we wouldn't get 3bet on these tables and be able to get it in pre anyway. What comp is this?

yeh liking the limp, someone gets a bit trigger happy with KK/rundown or something we can stick it back to em, or we see a flop and set-mine. TBH i think opening is fine you have enough chips, and it's very similar to limping (set mining/thin the field a little/hope someone iso's) doesn't really damage the utility value of your stack - one of the 100bb stacks might get itchy with AKK or AKQ*ds or something and go for it, and folding is alrite as well hardly a great spot but I think it's a little too passive given the stacks dynamic and dont forget the option IS THERE to get money in in very good shape if a few things go our way.

So it's just grumpy who thinks it's a trivial fold pre then?

I actually min-raised and then got iso'ed by a 50k stack who potted from the button and then snap-shoved my pot RR with AKT9 which worked out well for him.

Limping would probably have been better but with the same result probably.

It was in the $26 re-entry on FTP.

I really like how you've played it. I prefer MR open to limping actually in retrospect, if you had like 5 less BB I think limping becomes the play.

Thing about Omaha is that everyone wants to fold all the time.

Hi Ralph,

I thought about this a good deal yesterday, & the scenario you outlined is EXACTLY how I want to play this. Not sure I'd have min-raised, but my whole plan here is try try & enginner a heads up situation. If I limp & they all limp behind, we are done with the hand, short of hitting an ace, and if I raise & get multi-callers, same thing. Someone potting it behind us is happy days, in they go, heads up is good, & what will be will be.

It really is an odd situation - naked A-A-3-7 is thoroughly horrible - UNLESS we can get Heads Up for stacks of course. I always seem to hit my danglers in these spots, too. Trick of the mind I suppose.

What a thoroughly elegant game Omaha is, full of nuances & fascinating spots.  Love it, & O8 of course.

Yeh, it's very unique to certain games,  in terms of rigid equity you HAVE the best hand, if someone wants to be all-in you'd be loving it, but you hand has such poor playability that the prospect of playing a poker hand with it is pretty discouraging, strange to grasp that you'd be MUCH better off, with a worse hand. Super-stud another game where this is true with getting dealt big trips (TTT) or something you just wanna be HU so you can pot and try make his low hand fold before you see too many streets, whereas if someone said lets get £5k in you'd snap there hand off.

It's a beautifully subtle game in PLO, like the fact folding pre-flop here is a genuine consideration is fascinating.

Oh my, very good, that's very good.

If I may make so bold, would his Royal Conkness object if I replied in kind?

Best regards,

Amen to that.

NLH left me behind, wayyyy behind, & my love, fascination & fixation with Online poker went a bit stale, & cool.

In the last 3 years, almost to the exclusion of anything else, I've concentrated on PLO8, & to a lesser degre, PLO, & my love for the game has been re-ignited, I literally can't wait to log on every night & play. I've (mostly) only played PLO8 in Vegas the last 2 or 3 years, too, & I've never had such fun, or such wonderful times. Even make a little money in Vegas every year, who'd have thunk?

I think I've played north of 1,000 PLO8 SNG's in the last 2 months alone (Mondy plays that many NLH 180's every day, lol), and I can't tell you the fun I've had. A do a little daily update, profit & loss, that sort of thing, on the Forum Next Door, too. Just small money, but it does not matter, I love it to bits, & it's my own money, & that gives me a good feeling. The game is just so, so, relaxing.

Absolutely love the game to bits. Weird, when you think I've been in poker all these years, & my age & everything.

One of these days I'll start a PLO8 PHA thread, I still struggle in loads of spots.

Anyway, I don't know what bought all that on, but I just wanted to say it.
