I have   in bb, 18k, blinds are 300/600.

Folds round to button, who is chip leader he has 54k in chips. He's a decent player and has been stealing a lot.

He min raises to 1200, I was going to 3 bet it, but decided just to call. A 3 bet would have been better probably to just try and win it there and then.

Flop;  Two Diamonds

It's a pretty nice flop for me, i'm good here most times against oppos range.

I check, villain bets 1900 I call (pot is 6.5k). I didn't see any point in raising, because he has to fold most of his hands.

Turn  , pretty bad card for me hating the King. It goes check check.

River ; loving life, I need to check to villain to let him bluff at it.

He over bets the pot. betting 8.1k into 6.5, I jam my last 15k.

Interested for views on this hand? Especially pre flop action, thanks

Overbetting = More polarised. Would be a bit absurd to just overbet a bare king like this unless there is a bit of history going on. Just call and you're going to get shown either a hand better than yours, or a bluff.

Getting odds to call a tonne in the BB here. I like calling. If you were going to 3bet I would do it with something more crappy and with a blocker. A hand like A3o/K9 would be better to 3bet bluff. No other play than to check/call the flop as raising is just going to get him to play back with a bigger hand and fold anything weaker. If he has been stealing a lot I would check/call the turn as well. Its a great barrel card for him. I would assume all bluffs will continue to bet as he can now have a lot of flush and straight draws on the turn. With regards to the river I would not expect someone to check the K and then decide to bluff the 9. I would def just check/call the river as you played it but I would much prefer a small value bet.

Thanks both, looking at it now, shoving the river is pretty bad, seemed like a good idea at the time!

I felt if I bet, even smallish, he's going 2 fold and the only way to get value was to check it to him and let him bluff.

I could bet small to induce a bluff raise. But don't think he could do this, and would end up just folding.

Think the play is fine 'til river. Lucky Scrote is right, he has nuts or air so no point in raising. Your decision is if you should call or fold, based on reads/previous.
