So in my "blonde will make you thin thread"
I would update the original post when people wanted to join in .....does this mean I won't be able to do that now ?

Will you introduce a "pished mode" that will allow posts made between 11pm and 4am to be edited for a 30 minute window 8 hours after posting?
its called the gouty
Almost - the correct title would be the Mondatoo clause.

Hii Lee,
I am afraid that is correct, an unfortunate by-product of the change.

lol my first thought and a good idea.
Ha, I think it's much more fun having to log in and see what you've done
In all seriousness I think it should be 12 hours or something unless there is a very good reason for such a short time span.
I think it can be any time span we choose, for now it is 30 minutes, but if good reason for longer can be shown, I'm sure it could be modified.

Seems like a good idea but curious as to why the change? Normally change comes from feedback, necessity or incident

If you can change it to be longer, then change it to be as long as possible? I didn't see a problem with how it used to be, and it always annoyed me that on 2+2 you only get 15 mins or so to edit.

Seems like a bit of a blunt instrument to me. Especially for staking or other threads where payments are being taken wouldn't it just make these threads much more cluttered because rather than updating the OP there has to be a new post every time someone books or pays for action after the 30 minute window?
If the problem is that some people are maliciously editing posts to deceive buyers etc would it not be better to either a) show a larger warning than there was before when a post has been edited or b) flag mods when an edit has been made so that the mods can see at a glance if its something suspicious or if its a benign spelling correction or update?
I guess another way to get around the cluttered threads problem would be to allow the thread started to edit the OP as before but further posts in the thread cannot be edited?

It wasn't implemented with staking threads in mind. That's more of a side-effect.
Most forums do have a time-period like this though (for a whole range of reasons), it's not unusual.
Editing the OP but not other posts in the thread isn't part of the functionality of the forum software, unfortunately.

I understand that it wasn't implemented with staking threads in mind. I don't really have a vested interest in those any more, haven't started a staking thread for an age. Curious to know some of the reasons for the time limit though, usually something pretty big has to happen to provoke what I think most would agree is a pretty big change to a tool that gets used very frequently. I think most would agree that the removal of editing privileges for members is a little more than a 'tweak'?

yeh maybe 64 hours would be best so you can quickly edit the 2nd post of a thread and keep t updated.

I can't seem to edit any of my posts at all, even just a few minutes after posting them.
Edited to say: Oh! I can edit THIS post lol... but can't edit any of my PHA posts after posting them. Weird...

Meh, unless there was specific reason to change this which you haven't said, then I would say if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Old system seemed fine to me

This 30 mins thing doesn't seem to be true currently, can't edit any posts I've just made
Edit - Oi Oi, maybe I can!
Edit - Sigh, but not in the thread I need to
Hi James,
As far as I am aware, you get 30 minutes "grace" to edit your Posts. Beyond that, no, it should not be possible.
If that is not the case, let us know please.
I can't edit any posts I've made in my Diary thread that I've made in the last 30 mins

What about a function to see previous edits?
Do mods already have this privilege?
