Safe PC disposal help

I have a PC + laptop lying around that I would like to get rid of, both about 6 years old.

I don't want to do anything with them, including switching them on, installing HD wiping software or removing casing.

I'd prefer not to have to take them anywhere or spend any money either, but I'd prefer to do that than ^^this.

Main concern is that the HD is permanently wiped clean of all personal data.

I found a website http://www.digitalgrowth.co.uk/ offering to collect and delete for free, is this a good or bad idea?

What is my best play?

Ask someone you trust to do the above as you will have to either render the drive unusable or wipe it.

Remove the HD from the pc and physically destroy it. You said you don't want to do anything with them but this is a pretty simple solution and takes a minute or so.

As for the laptop. Wait until you've had a pretty tough poker session and give it a little visit. I've always wanted to take out my frustrations on a laptop.

Seriously though, google "how to remove hard drive" for both machines and physically destroy them. It's not hard work and best if all it's free!!

Remove had it's simple even I can do it, then trash the rest, use the revolved drives as external drives in a caddy perfect for storing films at tv programs on to watch on tv

Providing you don't have another hard drive with data on it, then no. The hard drive is where almost all the data is kept. The motherboard holds a very small amount of data as well as most of the other components but it's only boring stuff like driver software.
