For a few years now, I've had a hankering to go to Texas.

It's not that I know much about the Lone Star state, but everywhere in it seems to be part of a song, a film title or an adventure story.

Mrs Red and I have thought of quite a few examples, but we would love to hear yours. I bet we missed some obvious ones.

Would also appreciate advice on flights, a good road trip itinerary, must see's, cheap places to stay, do's and don't's etc.

Hoping to go is September / October for about 3 weeks.

Please can you buy a stetson and wear it the whole time, then come back and still wear it, and start calling yourself Tex, and when people ask why you called yourself Tex say "It's because I've been to Texas".

Will follow this advidly because I have also always wanted to go.

Went to a rodeo in Vegas. (In fact I think it was the National finals)

Very disappointing.

Was bored after 30 minutes.

Bucking bronco was moderately exciting I suppose.

Still wished I was playing $2-$5 no limit instead of being there for most of the time.
