Pretty standard hand back when I first started learning the game. No one check-raised without a set. You have to throw those aces away and remember one pair doesn't generally win at showdown. Good fold.

Not sure why you've chosen this moment to show us a hand you played in a £50 freezeout in 2001 though...

Not sure if I'm flatting Aces pre I'm planning to fold this board.

Any specific history/are players known?

beyond bad, can see him taking same line with AJ KJ QQ/KK vs  yours and other villains stack sizes. He also has pure air a % of the time, as it coffins a lot. No idea what youre up to here tbh.

Given he doesn't think you can have AA KK QQ or JJ, your range goes like;
88
33
J8s (prolly just 1 combo if he has a J)

As the only hands you can have better than this? So it's a super exploitative fold and you need some good reasons to make super exploitative folds no?

i think this is the most interesting hand ive ever played.

looking at the hand now, 14 hours later it looks like the clearest all in ever.

in game as soon as he raised i instantly thought to myself i was 100% behind.

previously i would talk myself into hero calling too wide in spots where i slowplayed aces etc so its very interesting that my brain subconciously reacted like this in game. no idea if it was a case of timing or what but something happened to make my brain say fold, i think i folded in like 3 seconds or something really stupid.

v interesting.

Just seems to be an over-adjustment you've made (I used to do it), however on this board think its hard for you to be behind. Like Trigg said he has so many more combos of AJ / KJ / overpairs. Board is super dry and he probably gets 2 folds from marginal hands cbetting into 2, whereas he gets stabs from these hands and gains a flop bet a higher % than he would cbetting. Also gets you to go with your marginally worse hands often and gets the max.

well there you go, part of being a great poker player is great poker instincts, nothing more frustrating than thinking something very strongly then using theory to talk yourself out of it, a player on your level will have sub-concious knowledge that will be impossible to reason in game, if you're good enough then trust those instincts because they are often right.

There is your reason.

I don't agree this is a stnd fold though, or that it could possibly be the most interesting hand you've ever player.

its not interesting because of the theory side, but perhaps finding a big mental leak like that is v interesting.

def not std ofc yeh.

idk that it's even that super exploitative unless we have a really wide flatting range here that decides to bet the flop too much. we probs aren't betting w AQ and maybe even not something like 99 so we don't have tons of hands when we bet anyway. dyno can have a nice piece as well
