I'll take that as "no sale" unless I hear to the contrary then.

Best of luck.

Just saw it Ralph.

I remember one occasion, about 10 years ago, I was having dinner with Mr Thew the night before the main event started.

He happened to mention that he was surprised to learn the tournament had sold out so quickly.

I hadn't bought my seat yet!

I hastily put down my bread roll half eaten and raced to the casino to confirm the news.
Luckily a friend who had already bought his seat won another in the last chance satellite and sold me the ticket and I got in the event.

Just bought in today.

Only 130 registered and no half eaten bread rolls for me.

Sad really, this was the best tournament in Europe back then and now cannot attract more than 150 entries.

Still, with late entries and re entries should get 200 I hope.

Still pretty disappointing.

why do you think that is?

slap bang between WPT and EPTs? event overkill/too many events?

less promotion than normal?

is there no early sign of domestic pick up from jorryt van hooft in the november 9?

It used to be *the* event in Europe. Added money and tons of prestige.

Now with a big event virtually every fortnight and no unique selling points for MCOP it is just another big tournament.

There were lots of Dutch players though, and I think it is better value than the average EPT.

Finished Day 1 on 48,700.

A little bit disappointing, as I hit more than my fair share of flops in the day.

It was the first time I've played a main event which is a re entry and I must admit I was very surprised to see people gamble decent stacks in the last level or so, with the knowledge they will fork out another 4 grand if they lose.

Fair enough if they've got 10-15 bbs.

But I was seeing some play I'd expect in a tenner rebuy at Luton with 30-40bb stacks. People must have more money than sense.

I should have shut up shop for the last hour when I got to 60k+

The "majors" scene was MCOP, E-WSOP & WSOP then.

Times have changed, eh?

One quirk of the MCOP (back then) was that they divided the cardroom into "Smoking" & "Non-Smoking" areas, & you were allowed to choose which you preferred.

I always remember Bushy, who was a non-smoker, saying "I've chosen the SMOKING section, as I think the field there is bound to be softer".

The mysteries of poker, & how we think, eh?

Good luck today Keith.

It wasn't the World Series of Poker Europe, it was the WSOP trial in Vienna.

It was played over the exact same format as the real WSOP and was a really big deal.

I remember playing it for the first time and being nearly as excited as playing the WSOP.

Correct, E-WSOP @ Concorde, it was a HUGE deal.

Think Trumper won it one year? Chubby Nowab won it, or nearly so, a year or two later, too.

Off to google, I feel a ramble coming on.

Christer Johansson was a fearsome player.

Check out his HM

Must have the biggest % of wins to cashes ratio of virtually anyone on the database.

If he got hold a big stack it was game over for the rest of us.
