I am due to take my FIRST trip to vegas at the end of March for a few days with some US friends for a "Bachelor Party" (stag doo). Looking for a nice hotel. Probably preference is for a strip location although would be interested to hear recommendations of freemont st/downtown area.

Is the Bellagio the best ? I think this would be my preference.

gracias amigos.

Bellaggio is nice, however I liked the Mirage. Also the Mandalay bay is also pretty sweet.

If Its just a bed you want then take yer pick, but if its for the facilities I would go with the Mirage

90% of the Casinos on the strip are of a high standard. I think NEWYORK, NEW YORK has a great selection of themed bars.
Try this link for more ideas.http://www.cheapovegas.com/index.php
 or this http://www.vegas.com/index1.html;jsessionid=ce3061376731$CC5$1B$?key=home01

There is only 1 casino downtown to any reasonable standard which is the Golden Nugget.
Personaly I would stay on the strip and catch a cab downtown as there isnt much going on there.
The Monte Carlo looked good and was pretty much central on the strip for access to all the other casinos.
I think the rate there is reasonable too.
Happy hunting

My brother stayed at the Monte Carlo a year or two back and was more than satisfied.

If you are going for a stag do, you might not want to go for the nicest hotel necessarily.

The Mrs and I stayed in Paris when we went - lovely hotel, directly opposite the Bellagio so a great location, but quite pricey and not quite so wild as some of the other places.

If I was going for a lads trip, I'd go for somewhere cheaper and save the cash for other purposes (err gambling obviously). After all, how much time are you going to actually spend in the room? And will you be sober or awake when you are in the room!?

That said, Mandalay Bay is a bit isolated but is apparently teeming with young singles so might be a good stag do base. I also have it on good authority that Hard Rock hotel has some sights to behold.

If you want a really nice hotel in a good location, also consider The Venetian. It's amazing!

The Mrs and I also thought TI (previously Treasure Island) had a really good atmosphere.

Oh boy, just writing this makes me want to go back.....

If you are going for a stag do then you have to go to the new Hooters Hotel in Vegas to stay Smiley

I don't have a link a, but a search on Hooters and Las Vegas will make you very happy;)

The little links for if your wife or boss come when your on the hooters homepage is genius!!!!

I stayed at the stratosphere for 4 nigths and the aladin for 6 (pre-planned idea, worked well)
I'd reccommend both. I think the strat could provide the best value in vegas, the hotel its self is really nice, not the biggest casino but rooms and food etc all good (the buffet is highly reccommended - better than the alladin) - the only issue being the location. We did ealk from the palace up the strip one afternoon and it wasnt too bad- taxi's are reasonable if your only getting two a day.

Location i'd say new york new york, mgm, aladin etc are all ideal.

i thought it was over rated, certainly not the best in vegas as the award they got said. on the other hand it did have almost every food in the world for $20! I jusdt likied the idea of a big sunday roast for brekie that they had at the strat!
