That's about 15 minutes from me Kev. Hope you enjoyed the tour of Glengoyne I work for the company that owns it.

Hi Eck, hope you're well.

Loved the whole day. Kelpies, Glengoyne tour, lunch at Loch Lomond finishing off at the Denstone distillery. A few wee drams consumed.

It has been nagging me for weeks! I think that I sat next to you at the Stoke Poker game at Blackpool last month. I knew I regonised the face, but didnt know where from! lol. I thought you might of been someone I knew from work........but it was from here. Hopefully I can introduce myself properly next time I see you Wink

I'm back in Blackpool for the GUKPT seniors in November.

Kev, don't waste your time trying to reason with him, he is completely unreasonable.

Last year had 5707 unique entries. I bet it was double that with re buys, and I bet the juice was the same on a rebuy.

You can pay a lot of dealers with half a million squid.

Mind you, I bet they didn't get much action from the players on the gaming tables, in the bars or at the kitchens. I mean, it's not as if we are a load of fat, drunken degenerates is it?

Oh wait...

Yeah I hear you but there's room hire, hotel and travel. They even have to pay hire on the chairs. Just not your overall local comp. I've not played it for a couple of years but if I know you're going and when I'll get down the M6 for the value. 🤣😉

Some of you may know, I didn't, (Or I did and I forgot) That Jim McShane, AKA 77dave on here, is the man who runs Grosvenor poker.

Jim is a poker player, not a man in a suit. He was playing 7 nights a week before most people in the UK knew what poker was.

I first met Jim in Luton around, I'm guessing here... 20004? I also played full time back then so I often spent several hours at a time in his company, we got on well and often chatted about the way card rooms were run, especially where tournament structures and cash game rake was concerned.

Jim and I lost touch somewhere along the way, I thought he had moved to Vegas to play full time and then suddenly...  Boom! He pops back up as the bloke who runs Grosvenor poker.

What a turn up for the books. A real poacher turned game-keeper situation.

Anyway, Jim dropped me a PM to mark my card re my comments about the Goliath. I know him to be a genuine bloke so if this is what he says I believe him.

Hi Tom

Long time no speak
Hope you are doing well

The costs are just crazy
No1 else would put the event on

We have to pay for the halls. Car parking. We pick up the car park costs so players don’t have to
170:dealers 30 floor team
Hotels and transport
4000 team meals
Marketing

Doesn’t need any justification
Think of it more like £200 buy in for a 1st prize of £200k

Takes 9 months to plan and a lot of players see it as there wsop
Gonna be a busy 10 days.

Mad isn't it Tom.

Will you play it? I've only played it twice. I have good intentions to play then can't be arsed to drive over an hour to the venue. I do enjoy playing the Seniors, so if I play I will incorporate with that.

Mind you, I might not meet the criteria....

How many bullets will you be budgeting for in the Goliath Tom? I believe the kids play it like one of the old tenner rebuys.

Do you remember Jim meeting us in at the airport and ferrying us to our hotel several moons ago in Vegas?

I remember Jim meeting us now that you have reminded me Ralph.

I'm hopefully going to play Thursday the 1st, Flight F, one bullet and then if I bust I still have the option of perhaps firing a second bullet on the Friday.
