Event 59 $1500 NLHE, Alex Lindop from Stoke-on-Trent is 1/4, just over 500k up top.

Stream is here:

Alex is HU now with a 2:1 chip lead.

Stoke on Trent gets its first wsop bracelet!

Shame there was no British rail for the lad, it was very underwhelming when he won (final hand saw him over bet shove 34o on 5433Q and get called by Q5).

Congrats Alex!

I used to play cash with a couple of kids he staked online at Stoke 5 years ago.  Never spoke to him personally in my life.  Sure he will have loved the fact there was no rail for him.  Proper GIQ type.  VWP.

Met Alex once at GUKPT Blackpool, really nice lad and crushing tournies atm, presumably flicking it in from a throne made of hu plo cash.

Fairly sure I've just seen a very well known footballer playing cash at the Rio. As I'm now in the deepstack, anyone fancy doing a recce to see if I'm going mad?

I'm assuming he is wearing a coat and hat because he doesn't want to be disturbed so I won't post the name here.

I'm on table black 176 in pavillion if you're about and fancy having a look. Come over and I'll tell you who and where.

Never heard of him Camel.  Is he a stokie?  Assume so from the post.  Why did he stop playing in early 2000's?

Was a jeweller from Stoke.

Was a cash game fish in the days when tournaments were rare, but went to Vegas for the WSOP one year and turned out he was a natural at tournies.

Crushed for 3 or 4 years and then met a woman out there and emigrated.

No idea why he stoppped playing, he was a decent 10 years ahead of his time.

John Shipley might know what happened to him.

Ha, Rydel was facing fields of 120 with maybe 5 good players.

Deadman is facing fields of 1200 with 500 excellent players.

I'm rapidly coming to the conclusion Deadman is the best tournament player ever from the UK.

What is the max price you would pay for 10% of him in the wsop main event?  5.0?  10.0? 20.0?

I don't think anyone has got as much as 5.0 edge on the field nowadays.

I'd snap pay 2.0 but would struggle to justify paying any more than 3.0

Just too many competent players.

10 years ago, half the field literally could not win. I'd be surprised if that figure was more than 10% now.

Swathes of players in the 0.9 to 1.1 range. I'm not buying action (except for a couple of friends with no juice) for the first time in 15 years.

Virtually everyone who is selling is over estimating their edge I think.

I was almost sure I saw Luis Figo walking through the Amazon room one day. Can I guess that?
