The rise & rise of Aldi continues, as they overtake the sales of Waitrose.

Quite a story behind Aldi, which remains privately owned.

It was founded by the Albrecht brothers, & the name "Aldi" arises from "Albrecht Discount".

They operate over 5,000 stores across the world.

This story is barely believable, but has been widely reported today.

A chap has volunteered to have a head transplant.

He has a severe wasting disease, & will die soon.

In fact, his head appears to be fine, it is his body which has failed, so really, it's a body transplant.

You're confusing the virtually impossible head transplant operation with the much easier body transplant.

A star is born

This young man - just 21 - from Texas, a golfer, until now, of great promise, is playing in The Masters. A select field, on one of the toughest courses in the world, but he blew them away, breaking nuumerous records, & leads by 5 strokes.

Good looking boy, he has 30 years of pro golf ahead of him, & will likely earn north of $20 million every year.

I wonder how he feels right now?

Kensai Airport in Japan.

Not lost a single piece of luggage in 21 years.

It has the longest concourse in the world

When the Kobe earthquake struck in 1995, with its epicentre just 20km away, the airport was unscathed, owing to its sliding joints. Didn't even break a window.

Sir Ranulph Fiennes is 71. Last night, he completed the 159 mile Marathon des Sables in Morocco over six days, including beating temperatures topping 50oC.

He raised £1m for Marie Curie.

On an reptilian forum somewhere, there is a thread where alligators debate how they would cope in a one acre enclosure with Sir Ranulph Fiennes.

Lidl is owned by one of the brothers now. The story goes that they had a falling out a few years back so one kept Aldi and the other went and formed Lidl. That's why the shops look similar, similar names, similar strategy of discounting etc.
