As mentioned in the OP I get no tabs at the bottom of my screen once I fire up 'stars since the latest update, the background simply reverts to my screen-saver.

This means that I also have no 'stars tabs either so in order to see the main lobby I have to click on "lobby" for the tourney lobby and then "main lobby" once I get there.

I've a feeling that the new update has made 'stars some kind of over-riding full-screen mode but I can't find any means of resolving or changing this on the new 'stars toolbar on the right hand side of my new lobby.

Help please.

so options are, you've accidentally hidden the task bar yourself. ctrl escape should make it visible if it's there.

stars itself isn't doing something special fullscreen as far as I know with win7, cant vouch for on win8 though.

you have some kind of other issue with the computer.

did you install anything else recently?

yup win 8 is this horrible new tablet based look. which makes no sense.

okies well there's no new setting by default, or anything you could set that would make it try and start in fullscreen.

two easiest options, 1) email stars, explain the problem, have them either help you diagnose it or inform you it's a problem with your computer lol or 2) you can install teamviewer  (https://www.teamviewer.com/en/download/windows.aspx), and catch me online at some point and i'll view your computer as you use it and try and help you fix it. its kind of hard to diagnose a problem when you cant see the problem as its happening and when you are just going off someone elses description.

I cant see any threads with similar problems, that are in any way related to stars both in normal places and in the beta forum where all the testers were providing feedback.

press print screen, top right of keyboard, then open paint, and click paste. Smiley

CTRL/esc just makes the start menu visible temporarily but not the taskbar and clock.

I did re-install partypoker the other day but I don't think that's the problem.

Everything seems to run as per usual until I fire up 'stars then I lose everything at the bottom of my screen.

If I reboot everthing reverts to normal but then I fire up 'stars again...

yup, that's remarkably special.

can you go start>control panel>programs and features, click on the 'installed date' so that the most recent stuff is at the top.

and see if you remember everything there, it all makes sense etc. or is there some random application name installed after stars?

ooooh if you do control escape once stars is open, can you then resize the taskbar and have it stay visible? maybe some weird way its minimising it?

Never opened paint so I'd more than likely spill it Smiley

I'll try e-mailing them otherwise I might have to burden you with the teamviewer jobbie if I catch you lurking on blonde in the next day or two.

I honestly think that emailing them may prove somewhat futile, I have got the great success of 1 table left tonight, but am literally always online, and will be around all of tomorrow both day time and evening. So just shoot me a PM on here or if you're feeling super geeky add me on skype with this same username, and I will try and give you a hand.

can you open up stars, then press  CTRL ALT and DELETE at the same time ( so 3 different keys), then click start task manager.  click on the second tab 'processes' and see if there is one called explorer.exe (this is what powers the start bar, task bar on windows).

you could also try with Stars open, pressing the windows key and P. then selecting Computer only. its a shortcut for managing your display when doing presentations and having other monitors etc connected.

btw if you open the task manager as instructed by TB AND there IS no explorer.exe, you can go to the top left of the task manager and click on file "new task (Run)" and put explorer.exe in the box and go OK.  This got my stuff back once when my puter had a nervous breakdown

yup what he said.

thing is we then need to figure out what is causing it to have said breakdown. i'd bet quite a decent bit that it's not stars.

problem is we then start saying things like do you have your install disc and it gets hella messy.

I did the ctrl/alt/delete thing last night and typed in explorer.exe into task manager after some searching on google and it reverted back to normal for the rest of the evening so I thought it was solved until I fired up 'stars tonight.

I tried the same thing tonight plus checking lock taskbar or something similar but it wasn't falling for that again.

I'll shoot you a PM tomorrow afternoon  Andy as I don't have skype either.
