If you could repeal one law and make something that is currently illegal legal, what would it be?

For example would you repeal the smoking in pubs law, or the speed limit on motorways?

What about gun laws, or the age of consent?

I would do away with the law that allows English Heritage to erect a fence around places like Stonehenge and then charge me a exorbitant fee to see them.

I don't like the "reasonable force" rule if someone is in your house.

If someone is in fear of their life and those of their family I don't see why the court needs to second guess their state of mind and decide if it was reasonable or not.

I'd ban religion but seeing as that's ethically questionable i'd settle for just taxing the churches and religions.
And seeing as we already have one legal highly addictive and mind altering drug freely available on sale, I'd legalise the rest and put controls and taxes, in line with alcohol, on them.

I was going to say legalise weed (despite not smoking it) but this one's better

I would make motorway speed limits variable depending on volumes of traffic and weather conditions.  I find it amazing how on an empty motorway at 9pm when it is warm and bone dry you can do the same speed as when they roads are wet/icy and full of traffic during rush hour.

+1 to this

Similar to one of my big gripes, which is Edinburgh council banning parking in places like George Street in the city centre a few years back, which itself was fine............however they re-introduced parking there and now charge extortionate amounts for parking, feels like theft to me.

Legalise possession of drugs. Most are boss fun, others make victims out of their users.. Criminalising young people having fun or addicts suffering misery makes little sense to me

Legalising the sale of them would be monumentally stupid, however.

Some very good shouts, the problem is there are so many laws that are either unfair or just stupid.

I'd like to see many of those above considered but I would also like to take away the power faiths have over the law makers.

I would repeal the law which states that a licensed bookmaker cannot take a cash bet in a public house if the law
remains in place where you can have a bet if you bet through an account.

You can bet on your ipad , mobile etc and lose thousands from your bank account while drinking in a public house but you

can't bet a £1 if its cash.

Surely it is far more dangerous for an addictive gambler or drunk gambler to be able to bet using funds in an account
rather than only being able to bet with what he has in his pocket.

Someone please tell me I am wrong and state the reason please because I can't get my head round this one.

In fact , everytime I think about this issue , I need a drink

Just the same old out of date pre 1960s gambling laws never being updated.

I would change the law so that wealthy fare dodgers would not be able to escape prosecution by paying compensation.
