Cracking game

Rare to see such an open, flowing, end to end game.

Won't break my heart whoever wins, it's just lovely to see the game played like this.

referee was excellent wasn't he?

quite the rarity to see such an assured set of decisions, especially at the stretford end for the Januzaj one

the intimindation factor of old trafford on and off the pitch definitely missing, for referees included

I thought so, yes.

The lad Januzaj is a wonderful talent, such a shame he does things like that. A few 6 month bans for that sort of thing would do football the world of good, imo, it is becoming commonplace.

Awesome display by the ref. manure shocking.  Going to be really interesting watching the glazers stand by their man when they win nothing and don't make the top 4 even though they had the schedule from heaven all season with no champs league football. Easy to forget the scousers nearly won the league last year without any European commitments and a week to prepare for every game as well. Scousers also didn't spend anywhere near the money manure have this season either.  Not going to get any easier when the keeper leaves in the summer for Spain. How are manure going to replace him?

With regards to the kid diving it was funny to watch him settle himself first on his feet before he decided to dive.  Stuff like that should be an auto red card and a three match ban if confirmed by the video after the game.  We have to rid ourselves of this stuff in the game.

The Januzaj booking was inarguably correct, the di Maria one maybe less so. But no excuses for the loss.

Wish I'd been watching as a neutral because that was a cracking good game.

He waited for the ref to turn his back then poked him aggressively in the back. You are not allowed to touch refs so where is the debate unless you assume at old Trafford manure players can do whatever they like?

It was a great game to watch as a neutral I agree but both clubs are miles off where their supporters think they should be.

Think David was referring to the booking which led up to the push on the ref. That booking was a hard one to call, to be fair. The push on the ref was the easiest red ever.

If I paid someone as much as Man U presumably pay De Maria, I'd be pretty miffed for his wanton stupidity.

Shame really, as it may have tipped the balance in what was a truly thrilling spectacle up until then.

Having been booked how can you be so brain dead to poke the ref? He will still get his £250k a week for the next fortnight anyway so why would he care.   It's not like he is still going to be there next season.

I was working for John Kirkland when he took over the Chairman's role at Derby County from the late Mr Maxwell.

John was - is - immensely wealthy, but has always been a bit "funny" with money. Travels economy when he flies to the USA, etc.

Anyway, he came storming into my office one day shortly after taking up his new role at Derby County.

"You'll never guess what I discovered. You'll never guess" he spluttered, as he went red in the face, & steam started issuing from his ears.

"When our players are suspended for disciplinary reasons, we STILL PAY THEM. How bloody daft is that? I'll soon put a stop to that.

Very logical, was John.

Ref did him a big favour by only making it a second yellow.  Could easily be straight red and a 3 match ban.
