Two AK hands of mine

it really comes down to how deep I should be getting it all-in pre with AK.

Oppo's are randoms so I've no info on them. Second hand has probably seen me 3 betting a bit as I've had some decent hands that never went to show down.
1st hand I was prepared to get 500 bb's in pre,2 hand I wasn't prepared to get 40 bb's in pre. Thoughts, critiques and outright slaying welcomed.

I'm saying lets pile it in.... and loving life. If you're folding AKs to a 4bet at that stack depth in those positions, people should just 4bet you every hand. If you think someone is opening super tight or you're really not happy getting it in pre, just flat the open IP

TBH, if they had 4bet jammed I probably would've snapped them off but when they click back with an effective AI given stack size, it made me think I wouldn't be flipping like the first hand. Also 4 bets at this level are rare. So I should be happy to get it AI with AK at 40bbs pre?

Basically what you're asking is "does villain always have AA/KK when he makes this tiny 4bet rather than just jamming in his 40bbs?". You want an accurate and trustworthy ninja population read on which you can base an exploitative read-based hero fold. Well the thing is, noone can give you such a cast-iron read. And it is a massive deviation from 'standard' play to fold here. You need a really super reliable read to deviate, and you don't have it. If I was forced to guess I'd imagine that you are often racing, and are going to be dominated a little more than you are dominating. So I wouldn't call it a 'loving life' spot exactly, more a spot where you are going to be a small dog vs his overall range but are getting a great price. But this is only my personal guess ofc.

Don't second guess yourself when you have AK and effective stacks are 50bbs or less. Especially not when getting really good odds.

I think the first hand is very stnd - i know its FR but I still think the 3b is the best way and I cant imagine not calling the AI is ever going to be better than folding - remember when you fold you are gtd to lose $0.90 - 9 big blinds, I'd be surprised if being ALL-in for 50bb is going to be more than a -90bb/100 play.

Second I think once you have 3b you are committed to being AI against him, unless you have some very exploitative read on him that he opens reasonably wide from this position (EP/MP) folds never to 3bets and 4bets only super premium. Being All-In here isn't going to be the kind of spot that will send you to barbados over the next 5 years, but same principal again, once you've invested that initial 9bb you have to look after it!

Happy to get both in. In the second, villain is 40bb deep and has made it $1.10 more than your $0.90, leaving himself $2 behind. There's a chance he's putting a smaller 4bet in to see if you'll fold, so it's weakness, rather than strength.

Is there an argument for a bigger 3bet, here? $1.20? Villain has to commit his stack then and we aren't folding. As played, if we jam, perhaps he can fold some of the range we want him to call with?

Just a thought.

Thanks for the input. Certainly given me a few thoughts and ways of thinking about the game that I hadn't considered before. Will deffo be posting more in here.
