Another of my little "Latest News" pieces for Next Door. Bit of spam in it, but not much.

Quite how I came to call Paul "Boba Fett" McTaggart "James" I've yet to work out.

They are not THAT interesting Craig......

But yeah, I'll send them across later today. A few names in the latest ones you'll recognize from your days in the UK, including Mad Turk & Thewy. Even railtard gets a namecheck.

Love watching Ali play, most players on the local scene think he's a massive fish, not realising he has actually got a good game and can and does change and adapt to different tables very well.  Let's people see him in maniac mode then they wonder what's hit them when they get "mallu'd"!  Really nice guy and credit to the game well done Ali.

On a side note, I took a local young lad to a £20 rb comp in Sheffield the other night, he loves poker and had never been to a casino before.  In we went with me telling him "don't worry it plays really tight, play really tight yourself and you shouldn't need to have any more than £60/80 invested."  He got Ali Mallu on his table, oh Lordy were his eyes opened!

The bloke is amazing, one of a kind. Whatever he wins soon finds its way to the blackjack or roulette tables, too.

I made a final table with him in 2006 in Blackpool, which was one of the weirdest things ever happen to me in poker. Trigg was on the same Final. Ali was about 3rd in chips, & we were due to start on Day Two, at 2pm.

We were all sat there waiting to start, Ali's seat was empty. He rings me, "I'm in Recepption, they won't let me in, come see me, quick".

I go see him - he's been BANNED. Some argy bargy had gone off 2 days earlier at G Bolton, & after investigation, he had been banned. But in the intervening day, he'd paid to enter this comp @ Blackpool & made the Final Table as 3rd chip.

Now what happens?

One of the most difficult spots for a TD, & the players, I've ever experienced.

You might say "he just blinds off", yeah, but that dramaticallly changes the table dynamic for those either side of his empty seat. Give him a min cash & remove his stack from play? Hardly seems fair.

Anyway, we all sorted it out eventually.

He was classified as 9th, but they refused to include him in the official result. I finished 8th, obv, so never beat anyone except the empty seat.....

Not sure if anyone read the GPS blog yday but Mallu managed to call a 30 big 3 bet shove pre with 910 for most of his stack and run into 1010 and obviously the board run out with two 9's on it.  When you are in form you are in form i suppose!  Think his quote was 'i quite fancy this hand'!

Standard. He "quite fancies" every hand.

What a character.

Turk is riotous company at the table. If you can't enjoy poker when he's around, the game isn't for you.

Had the pleasure of sitting at Ali's table a few times, a really nice guy and fun to watch play. I've sat at his table on a £10 rebuy satalite for a 25/25 £220 seat. On the break he's playing 3 blackjack hands at a time £125 each. Poker must be a bit of a hobby for him.

And there you have typical Ali Mallu. Makes no sense, but he gets by.

Well he enjoys it, but I think he just loves gambling.
