I'm sure you can just set it to SD Red.
I have a HD box but don't subscribe to the HD channels and I get all the channels fine, and record in SD
Sorry Red, I can't remember how I did it, just remember having to change some setting or other when we first got it. My main worry at the time was left in HD the programmes would be unwatchable, as I cannot access HD channels.

go on to your My Sky page, view your package these are the options you get: (C&P) from web page:
I'm thinking of changing my subscription
You can make the following changes online:
Cancel Sky Multiscreen
Cancel HD and Box Sets
Remove Sky Movies

Unsubscribe to the HD Channels again?
I actually got a better deal by subscribing to HD for 12 months.

Out of interest, have you tried turning it off and on again?

I get all the channels fine too lover, but since the upgrade the majority of them are in HD.

ever
come across anyone quite as awkward as Tom?

I asked a straightforward question.
It's like you going into a shop and asking if they have chopped tomatoes, to which they reply "Have you tried plum tomatoes? Why don't you have beans instead? Have you thought of giving up tomatoes? You could buy plum tomatoes and chop them yourself...."
Not that I'm not grateful of course,

You'll also find most of the programmes are broadcast in colour, and with stereo sound. Apologies for that.
