Poker Players are SO honest........

This happened last night, & there are scores of witnesses.
11 left in the £50 at Gala Notts, when the wondeful cry goes up (which must be tough for the departee) "FINAL".
We all gather up our chips & wander across to Table 1, where we must draw our seat & count our chips. I have a measly 17k, & thanks to "changing up" by the Manager, I have exactly 5 chips - 3 x purples (5k each) & 2 greens (1k each). I can just about carry 5 chips....meanwhile, the rest of the finalists are trundling wheelbarrows full of chips across the cardroom, some of them were using buckets, others had sackfulls.
I draw Seat 4, & as I go to sit down, I spy on my seat a.....Purple 5k chip!
Whahoo!
The Dealer is busy verifying all the "counts" so I say, loud enough for everyone to hear, as I pick up the Purple Chip & hold it in the air, "I just found this on my chair, anyone know who it belongs to?".
Well, THREE guys claim it, one of them as a joke, but the other two were BOTH serious.
And I do mean serious, the argument gets VERY heated, the two geezers are effing & blinding, going red in the face, da de da de da. "You are a liar, it's MINE", "no, YOU are a liar, it is MINE"" all that nonsense.
This goes on for 20 minutes, the "camera" is checked, & the two guys are both tilted up. I have no idea how they resolved it, I fell asleep, but neither of them would concede an inch. One had about 150k, the other best part of 100k.
Later, we are down to 4, & there is a misdeal, & in the confusion of re-gathering the dealt cards, the BB (it was 8k/4k by now) disappears.
"Big Blind please" says the 12 year old dealer, who by now is fed up with dealing to kids. "I already put it in" says the BB, "no you did not" says the other, "yes I did", & off we go on ANOTHER 20 minute argument. After 10 minutes I ask for the clock to be paused, whilst sitting & watching this childish argument develop.
After 20 minutes I decide I've had enough. With Rob no longer there, the new kids running the cardroom- GREAT lads, all of them - really do not know how to resolve this, they are puffing out their cheeks, scratching their heads. You gotta feel sorry for them.
So I decide to pipe up. "Look, lets just forget it, play this hand without the 8k BB, just the 4k SB, & for betting purposes, assume the BB is there, so a "pot" Bet is 28k.
After much huffing & puffing, it's agreed, & we play on.
At the risk of making myself (even more?) unpopular, some poker players really are not terribly bright, I mean, does it REALLY matter that much if you are 5k up or down when you have maybe 100K?
If one of them dropped the Purple 5k chip, well too bloody bad, he should be more careful, rather than cause a 20 minute row about it's ownership. And if your BB gets taken twice, jeez, how terrible is that, in the grand scheme of things?
I mean, both these guys were in their 50's, hardly immature in age terms, yet they were going red in the face with rage.
Have they had sheltered lives? Never seen a real problem? Have no diplomatic skills above "It's MINE", No it's not, it's MINE".....
I saw an argument one night when we "raced" for the 25 point chips, "the button is in the wrong place", & they were at each others throats over the ownership of a SINGLE 25 point chip. Minutes later, both guys went all-in with junk, & lost their 10k+ stacks.
If poker affected me like that, I'd pack it up immediately.

What a load of <word unsuitable for blonde>
I hate this kind of trite in poker. It not only discourages new players, but turns existing players away from the game aswell.
A row about a 25 chip race is just stoooooooooped.

hehe
I used to get involved in disputes because, in our poker room, I know more than most about the rules etc. But found that it was upsetting my game.
Now, I just sit back and watch, it's more fun.

It's so much easier online, apart from the odd bit of verbal now and again.
I wonder how many would have just kept the 5k chip?

It would have been a lot easier if I had just given the chip to the Manager & told him to say nothing - neither player would have said a word!

No idea. I left the room after 15 minutes of arguing, it was doing my head in. Then when the Final started I returned, but there was a "mood" in the air & constant snide references to it. So, so childish & stupid.

Further evidence that honesty is not the best policy.
What price naming the two over 50's in three guesses Tikay ?

Basically what you are saying is that you caused an argument at Notts Gala last night?

I played the £50 at Notts last Thursday and I loved it, I was on a nice table and on the whole the comp was played in a nice atmosphere
Except for one table, where a row broke out EVERY hand, They called for a ruling every time, and still argued when they got it
It's the same players every time
Why the hell do Gala put up with it?

Don't THINK you'd get it Karabiner. A Greek & an Italian with a very Italian sounding name. Both in their 50's I'd say, both long-term regulars who oughta know better.
