I haven't played poker in over a year but am in Nottingham this weekend (for the blonde bash ) so me and the gf fancy a trip to DTD. How does this XXL £25 work then. It seems to have reloads and re-entries? Do you just reload when we you want despite your chip stack? Re-enter when you bust? Also I vaguely recall reading about a turn clock Where you have to act within X seconds or something. Not a problem for me but is it likely to be intimidating to the gf who doesn't play often?

I've played an XXL a couple of weeks ago, it played as a 2 rebuy with no minimum stack restriction, some players were sitting down with 75k straight off.
There was a clock, I'm usually one of the quickest to act at a table and still managed to get it called on me once. Each player gets one timebank chip which gives you one more minute (I think).

When you bust you can re-enter up until the end of the first break (usually the end of level 5) so you'll have the best part of 2 hours before entry closes.
And yes, you get a maximum of 20 seconds to make your decision, the dealer will count you down for the last 5-10 seconds or so- plenty of time per decision. You also get 1 time extension if you require it, giving you an additional minute, by tossing the card into the middle. If you make the final table I think you get another.
Hope this helps.

Just lost interest in the game a bit I suppose. Not really a cash player and not a fan of how tournaments have gone these days with throwing loads of chips and rebuys and re-entries at you. In a sense the £25 tonight is the definition of what I don't like about tournament poker although I accept I am probably in the minority. I miss the old £50/4,000/24 and £75/5,000/30 freeze outs. Add onto that general work being busy and not wanting to play poker until 3am and I don't really play much anymore

You're not alone, I much prefer a freezeout to someone who can rebuy/ reenter a ridiculous amount of times before the late entry period closes. Gives it more of a thrill.

Oh and the fact I'm shit doesn't help too much.

I was beginning to think I was out of step overt these issues, it's reassuring to know I'm not.
