I haven't seen or heard anything about this week, but I'll shoot from the hip.
Excellent song for Anita that will have Gleb moistening gussets across the land again.
Quite possibly, although, having just watched it on Youtube, I'm concerned it's a bit over the top for a tango. It'll be difficult to choreograph without becoming a flamboyant nonsense.
Kellie finally gets a song that suits the dance (even though a Viennese Waltz just needs something that rather obviously goes 1,2,3,1,2,3). That song from Oliver will have the whole audience clapping along all the way through.
It's a great number and it naturally fits a real whisk around the floor. Very quick. She's going to be dizzy this week. Kevin can't win this competition without showing his dancers off better. Give her something simple and let her do it well. A lot of the leading dances week on week have not been that complicated. Jay's jive the biggest exception.
On which note...
This is the week we really find out if Aliona can get ol'Piggyface to emote as he does the dance of love to a dreary piece of sentimental rubbish (that loads of people love - no accounting for taste).
Yes. He is going to be challenged this week. Apart from by the voting public. Obviously.
Tal - is the VW the easiest dance for a girl to do? She basically just has to hold on whilst maintaining the top line as far as I can see.
Yes...ish... The learning on a technical basis is certainly less but it shows up frame, footwork, posture and hold much more prominently than other dances, where careful choreography can cover a multitude of sins.
A top level VW on this show will be almost exclusively in hold ("no fannying about at the start"), with a little intro, about 1/3 natural turns, 1/3 reverse turns, a fleckerl, a reverse fleckerl and a little end. I have yet to see a fleckerl followed by a reverse, I believe. Len would be looking for his eleven if that happened.
The VW used to be reserved for about this point in the competition and with good reason.
Katie doing a foxtrot is going to be tough. She's better in latin, although she is in the ultimate safe hands and had an American Smooth recently, which was foxtrot-based.
Georgia's dance could barely be more saccharin in my mind. Giovanni has his work cut out to keep her at the top.
