I saw an episode of Spooks last night where the good guys were torturing someone to make him reveal information that could save hundreds of lives, and I thought meh, fair enough. The greater good and all that. But then I though, what if he doesn't know, or if the good guys don't believe him, and how would they know when to stop because he's told them everything?

Can there ever be circumstances where torture is OK?

Had to Google her.

I have to say, I've seen worse looking Hawes.

I'd blab before the pain starts, I have little tolerance for it.  Don't tell me your secrets then chuck me in North Korea!

But that's part of the problem. If you talk too soon they have to torture you to make sure you're telling the truth.

This is what serial torturer Jack Bauer said on the subject, and in fairness he is never wrong

I've always thought in the movie type situation I'd just tell them something wrong but plausible to buy me some time. Like if they said 'where are the launch codes?' I'd say "They are in a bunker in detroit, I'll draw you a map" and then wait around for my rescue.

Haha!

I love that you have thought it through and have a plan.
