I'm thinking of downloading two apps. Whatsapp and my fitness pal.
I've been resisting for a while but they both look really useful.
Are there any pros or cons I should take into consideration?

read your contacts modify your contacts
Location
approximate location (network-based) precise location (GPS and network-based)
SMS
receive text messages (SMS) send SMS messages
Phone
directly call phone numbers
Photos/Media/Files
modify or delete the contents of your USB storage test access to protected storage
Camera/Microphone
record audio take pictures and videos
Wi-Fi connection information
view Wi-Fi connections
Device ID & call information
read phone status and identity
Other
receive data from Internet read sync statistics prevent device from sleeping full network access control vibration run at startup view network connections connect and disconnect from Wi-Fi use accounts on the device create accounts and set passwords modify system settings read sync settings toggle sync on and off install shortcuts uninstall shortcuts read Google service configuration change your audio settings

Don't worry about the permissions, they just list everything. If it were bad you can bet your life you'd know about it.

Nah, I'm not having that Gray. Why would they put people off with permissions they won't use?

Nah, I'm not having that Gray. Why would they put people off with permissions they won't use? I meant they list everything they use. Whatsapp has over 800 million active users, it would have come out by now if it was dodgy. If it was an app that I'd never heard of, sure, I wouldn't let it even be on my phone yet alone give it access but most apps these days ask for loads of permissions. They link all your contacts, have the ability to add meetings and events to calender's and so much more.

Everyone has whatsapp though it's perfectly possible to function without it.
My fitness pal is fantastic. Could not recommend it enough. Even if you're not training it's great just to see a breakdown of what goes into your body, chances are it will eventually kick you into action.

Ok. You've convinced me. I've downloaded those two. Just have to learn to drive them now.
1st question. Can I save pics that people send on whatsapp?

What is "whatsapp", & can you explain that "fitness pal" please? What does it tell you, how does it help? Does it tell us our calorie intake &/or how much energy we burn?
I'm not asking for myself.

If you had it it would just nag you to stop eating iced buns and smoking.

Will reply to this (although there will be many better qualified) when I find a small window in my hectic scheduled.
