anyone aware of this?

what steps would one take to be as vigilant as possible with these threats?

"A novel piece of malware called Odlanor has been discovered that allows cybercriminals to view users’ cards on online poker sites, making it far easier to pocket the winnings.

......

It works incredibly simply, installing malware onto computers when users download some other, useful application from illegitimate sources."

That's so simple it's frightening. Don't see why it's only limited to stars and tilt?

I would think because the vast majority - 90%, probably more? - of all poker third party software (the Trojan horse, so to speak) is used on those sites.

I should add I don't have the faintest idea if the story adds up.

This is old and that seems ridic budget to only be using screen shots when it should be able to take complete control.

I remember posting articles talking about this back when Jeans had his laptops compromised in Barcelona.

https://www.f-secure.com/weblog/archives/00002647.html

f secures annual report went on to conclude a few years ago that the poker sites were huge money laundering machines, and that there were multiple potential threats once you got to the very high stakes. in general for a small stakes player it's as irrelevant as any old malware that tries to do naughty things.

Why would you want to take control when you can get screen shots of your opponents hole cards sent to you on demand and take the winnings potentially without the opponent having a clue.

I dont mean use their mouse though they would have access to that. I mean watch a live feed, with all computer information not manually hitting print screen and getting it emailed to them

Considering the number of poker players computers I remove shit from or help fix/buy new ones, there's about 0.04% chance people would have a clue something was on their computer.

Because opinions about who is speaking sense and when differ.

were you wanting additional info there ralph?

basically privacy badger stops websites tracking your google chrome browser as you explore there website

this trojan doesn't require google chrome or any other browser to work so the browser addon is worthless in this case
