Grammar is the difference between knowing your shit and knowing you're shit.
This I understand. But when is it correcting a spelling mistake and when is it grammar?
My mate used the word hanger when he meant to use hangar. When I pointed this out he said I'd corrected his grammar but I said it was spelling.
Can anyone explain?

No, because it's all about what he thought was right.

If he accidentally wrote Hanger instead of Hangar it was a spelling mistake.

If he purposely wrote Hanger when he knows the word used to describe a building is Hangar it is a grammatical mistake.

I think.
