Have you ever done something harmless but stupid? This week I did just that, fortunately the only things affected by this stupidity are my pride and my wallet.
It all started as just before I went to bed on Monday evening. Doing the rounds, ensuring everything is off an locked, I noticed a noise coming from the dishwasher. The sound was that of a pump continually working, I opened the appliance to look at the display and a warning code was on show 'E30'. Quickly I found the manual and determined that the 'anti flood device' had been activated. I turned it off at the mains and went to bed pondering my next move.....
So roll on Tuesday afternoon I decided to call the Hotpoint service centre to book a callout and was persuaded by a lovely lady called Linda to take out an insurance policy on it that would cover all repairs and call out fees for the next 12 months. So I paid £177 and was safe with the knowledge that an engineer was to visit my house on Thursday morning between the hours of 07:30 and 10:00....
The engineer turned up at the reasonable time of 08:30 and quickly set about fixing my machine. Within 30 seconds he said I cant fix this to which I replied that's fine as the policy will replace if a repair can't be made to which he replied no that's not what I mean 'this is an Electrolux dishwasher' and we don't cover these....
So I went online and bought a new one as a punishment to myself.
