I was chewing the cud with a nurse yesterday (long story, sadly not very exciting) and she said and i paraphrase

"I had bought all our Xmas presents by the end of September. we're all done"

and i was agog.

I might think about it in mid December.

by the end of september for me is in the same category as people who buy christmas cards in the january sales.

bah humbug? or i should really get myself organised?

I pick up bits and bobs from about this time of year onwards but do one big online shop one night in mid December for the rest.

I used to do mine Xmas Eve, but then I got smashed and left all the presents in the pub one year so and started doing it a week earlier after that.

Now I take a similar path to Tal, and start picking things up in the few months leading up to Xmas.

Mrs Red buys them in the January sales.

She spends the same as she would have in December but everyone gets something that should cost twice as much.

So you're potentially waiting 11 months for a gift?!

Hope you don't get a hollyoaks calendar Wink

The wife buys all the presents barring her own and is generally finished by end of October. I buy hers usually the week before Christmas.

Far too early.  I used to do the same as Mark and trek out on Xmas Eve but do it at least a week before now.  It doesn't cross my mind before the start of December that I need to get any presents at all.

Chances are most of it comes from Amazon too, certainly ordered online.  I don't do proper shopping.

I buy presents for people when I see something I think they'll like - obviously that can be any time of the year but I don't tend to finish it until December though.

I was only about 17 or 18, and a massive twat, so it wasn't unexpected of me at the time.

The pub opened at lunchtime, and I went down to grab them all before we ate lunch Smiley

Get them either in August September or wait till the 22nd of December and even the 24th (after2pm is real quiet) cheapest times to buy
