Booked my tickets yesterday.

Obv people like me grew up with Star Wars at a time when movies like this were not commonplace. The fact its all live action and not CGI is what makes me do a little sex wee about watching it.

Oh for crying out loud boys, what is the matter with you?

Even James Hartigan - who I otherwise generally admire & respect enormously, was cooing this morning on Twitter.

It's just a film for kids.

This is basically what it all means to those of us that grew up with Star Wars.

We're roughly the same age (I think). Is Star Wars a cinema thing for you? It's more a watching it repeatedly on video thing for me. I went to see Jedi in the cinema in London with my dad when I was some years old, and had my first ever chicken nuggets at McDonalds too, but I can't remember a thing about the film at the cinema. Can still remember those nuggets mind. Probably explains a few things...

The opening scene of Star Wars where the huge spaceship just seems to keep going on forever is one of my earliest childhood recollections.

I'd have to be pretty dead inside for the thought of a new film not to send a few shivers down my spine.

If I can bring back a tiny bit of my childhood through a film then it gets a huge thumbs up from me.

Yes I'm 36.

Earliest memory was watching it on video as a kid.

Then a very strong memory of watching Return of the Jedi in the cinema. Inside the cinema they had a toy shop which sold all the star wars toys, and I was bought one and playing around with them during the film.

Mostly though it was rewatching them none stop on video.

Funny thing though, my Dad was even more obsessed with the movies at the time, and he was well over 40 when they came out. He actually owned a bunch of the toys which he had in a display cabinet, and we were not allowed to touch. Anyway after months of begging my mum eventually cracked and emptied the cabinet, and inevitably I lost and broke a bunch of them. Presume they would have been worth a few quid now, though not in their boxes.
