That is an interesting statement... if they tried to replicate The Beatles, it was certainly lost on me.

I can see how Little Mix can be described as another girl band off the production line in the Spice Girls mould. They did seem to have reasonably good vocals when i heard them sing (genuinely, not lip sync) live on TV ages ago.

Remind me how old you were when The Beatles were in their prime, Mr H?

I was approximately -25years old. Fortunately I have heard some of their work and listened to some Oasis growing up. I can imagine Oasis were influenced by The Beatles, but a vast range of more current musicians/bands are similarly influenced. I certainly wouldn't say Oasis tried to replicate the style/music of The Beatles though, not noticeably or obviously to me anyway.

Dont remind me of the UKPC 6max final , bluffed it all off like an absolute trooper in that one.

The lyrics do little to assuage that fear. Every song seems to have been written with one eye on row ZZ of the Pittsburgh Enormodome. Dealing only in generalities, the lyrics have been buffed until anyone can see their reflection in them: "Do you feel like a puzzle, you can't find your missing piece?", "You don't have to be alone", "The future's for discovering". At their worst, they are so devoid of personality that they sound less like song lyrics than something dreamed up by a creative at ad agency Bartle Bogle Hegarty. The first thing you hear on the album is Chris Martin singing: "You're in control, is there anywhere you wanna go?" For a terrible moment, you wonder if the second thing you hear might be the voice of Tom Baker saying: " ... the new Toyota Yaris".

the 6th form-level cod poetry of martin is ripe for ridicule, and could be seen to a bit of an easy target. but he invests such meaning and profundity in the tripe that i think it's fair game. and he not only bought into the self-importance of gwinnie paltrow he married into it and procreated with the wretched creature.
