Right out of the blue, 4 new elements (what they?) have been added to the Periodic Table, so now, millions of textbooks & established thinking are out of the window.

I don't understand the Periodic Table, but it's like baseball stats, staring at them is fun in itself even though they make no sense whatsoever.

Apparently, the Periodic Table thing is all very symmetrical, & there are gaps which belong to elements which have yet to be discovered, but they MUST exist. Apparently.

So a big welcome to ununtrium, ununpentium, ununseptium, and ununoctium. Memorise them, right?

Only memorise them if you're going on Pointless imo.

They are purely theoretical to be honest and of no real value. They only exist under very extreme conditions, and then only for fractions of a second as they have such short radioactive half-lives. I'm sure I will be bombarded with keen young minds asking me about these after the Christmas break; what else could possibly more exciting to a teenager could have happened over the Christmas holidays?

Yes, don't get too attached to the new names; these are only interim names.

I heard that these names only exist for a short space of time, before they turn into something else.

Your response was like a subtlety half-life version.
